The Path of Sight

Practitioners of the Path of Sight are often referred to as seers, able to perceive that which is invisible, to divine the future and tease out the past. Feared in much the same way that other sorcerers are, seers are somehow more personal, those who consult with them afraid that the seer knows their most intimate secrets and their hidden guilt. Most likely they do.

System

The three main abilities associated with the Path of Sight are spirit sight (the ability to see dematerialised gods, ghosts and demons), divination (peering into the future) and farsight (spying from a distance).

Spirit Sight

Standard test: Perception + Occult (Difficulty 2): This requires a short period of meditation (5 minutes) from the sorcerer, during which he clears his mind of the distractions of the world about him. The test is made, and the number of successes counted. For the duration of the scene the sorcerer can perceive dematerialised spirits whose Temperance virtue is less than or equal to that number. Spirits that have a higher Temperance score are as invisible as before.
Example:Barktongue the shaman enters into the ancestral ruins of his tribe to commune with the spirits that dwell there. Deep within the mist-cloaked city he sits down on the stone that has been reserved for this purpose for generations and begins to meditate, focussing his mind away from material concerns and into the spirit world. After five minutes he makes a Perception + Occult test and gets three successes. Subtracting one due to the difficulty allows him to see all spirits with a Temperance score of two or below. Unfortunately, the spirit that Barktongue wished to speak with has Temperance 4, and so he is unable to complete his task.

Divination

Standard test: Perception + Occult: The sorcerer must have a particular question in mind when he tries to divine the future. The question has to be reasonably specific in order for any meaningful information to be gleaned. Divination with mortal sorcery is imprecise and vague at best, unlike the exact auguries of the Sidereals the best that the sorcerer can hope for are images and feelings, or possibly words if a great many successes were scored.

Farsight

Extended test: Perception + Occult: By placing himself in a meditative state and focussing his mind on a person, place or object, the sorcerer can attempt to garner information regarding the current state and location of his intended target. The number of successes required on the extended test depends on the sorcerer’s relationship towards the target of his spell, and each roll represents about 10 minutes of time.
  +-------------------------------------+-------------+
  | Relationship with target | Successes |

Comments

Divinition & Farsight need expansion on effects, but my mind has drawn a blank. Suggestions? – Moxiane

Perhaps some sort of effect like reading psychic impressions on things? (Think Auspex from V:tES). Or also maybe just general seeing-into-the-past type stuff? That's about all I can come up with, hope it's useful. - SMK
