Fading Ember

Heritage: Solar Half-Caste, Abyssal Half-Caste
Concept: Magistrate's Assistant
Nature: Rebel
History: The Abyssal Prophetess Defiler of the Way foresaw the coming of the
Magistrate Joshua Finch; in an attempt to grasp some of his power, she seduced him, bringing
him into her keeping. He stayed with her for a year and a day; when he left her, he left in the
dark of the night, riding hard and with a baby - his son, their son - clutched to his chest.

When Defiler and Joshua made life, Joshua's (at the time) innocent purity was so far contrasted
to Defiler's corruption and the dark essence that flowed so strongly in her manse, that the both of
them were scorched by the flames that erupted around and between them. Though the fire was
quenched, a burning pain remained in Defiler's womb for the next nine months.

Fading Ember was born with flames licking across his head and whipping out in curls from his
nostrils. An afterbirth of gold dust and ashes followed him from his mother's womb.

As Ember grew, it became apparent that the warring essences of his parents continue to antagonize
one another within him; his hair has never grown more than a slight fuzz atop his head, it's ends forever
bursting into small flames and chasing his hair back down to his scalp. The fire within him burns bright
and fast; and this has resulted in his sensitivity to the Powers that Be; a great sensitivity to the workings
of destiny, and a fear of the heat of the sun (which only further intensifies his own.)

It is this fire that eats him alive, and brings his life steadily wearing down. He may die
sooner than to be expected however, as his mother has sent her own agents out to claim his life;
if he is allowed to die naturally, there is the distinct possibility that one half of his soul
may win out over the other, bringing him back as another critical player in the unfolding conflict
between Solars and Abyssals - and his mother would rather nip the possibility in the bud.

In the meantime, he travels with his father, assisting him in his Magesterial duties, and
learning a respect for love and life that would disgust his mother if she were to discover it.
