This is not a complete martial art. Rather, it is but one branch of the Fivefold Way of Battles Style.

Brutal Confrontation - The Gauntlet

The substyle of the Gauntlet treats fighting gauntlets and cesti as unarmed attacks.

Characters who learn these Charms as if they were Sidereal Charms may freely Combo them with Sidereal Brawl Charms. Such a character may also choose to substitute her Brawl Ability for the Martial Arts Ability any time the Charms of the Gauntlet call for a use of the Martial Arts Ability, other than for the purposes of meeting the minimum Ability requisite for learning the Charms.

Red Brute Fist

Cost: 3 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Martial Arts: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Fivefold-Way Sight

The path of the Gauntlet is one of confrontation and brute force. Accordingly, the first manuever the Exalt learns on this path is the Red Brute Fist. The character activates this Charm before making an unarmed Martial Arts attack. If the attack is successful, add the martial artist's Essence rating to the damage dice after the target's soak is applied.

Student's Posture of the Gauntlet

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 4
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Red Brute Fist

Donning the Student's Posture of the Gauntlet, the martial artist's posture is that of the bully, striking all the harder at those who resist. When the target of an unarmed Martial Arts attack attempts to parry or dodge, add the Exalt's Martial Arts score to the base damage of the attack. Additionally, she may count 10s as two successes on the damage rolls for her unarmed Martial Arts attacks. This is a Martial Arts Posture-type Charm.

Ugly Necessity Kata

Cost: 3 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Fivefold Way of Battles Form

Sacrifice is a crucial part of the nature of battle, and sometimes the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many. When this Charm is invoked in response to an attack on the Exalt, she reflexively rolls Manipulation + Martial Arts. If she attains at least three successes on this roll, the attack does not strike her. Instead, it is redirected to an ally of the martial artist who is within (the martial artist's Essence x 10) yards, and this ally defends as though the attack was initially directed at her. The martial artist has no control over which of her allies the attack is redirected to.

Juggernaut Fist Technique

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Martial Arts: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Fivefold Way of Battles Form

The sign of demand and domination, the heart of the Gauntlet is brute force. Used to enhance a normal, unarmed Martial Arts attack, this Charm doubles the base damage of the attack. Furthermore, if the target of the attack attempts to parry, the jarring force of the blow numbs her limbs, inflicting a -2 dice pool penalty to all actions requiring the use of those limbs. The penalty lingers for a number of turns equal to the Gauntlet Adept's Essence score. Multiple applications of this Charm do stack.

Unpleasant Task Imposition

Cost: 6 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Martial Arts: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Fivefold Way of Battles Form

Even the most distasteful of tasks will be obeyed when the consequences for disobedience are even more distasteful. When this Charm is used against a target within (martial artist's Essence x 10) yards, the martial artist commands her foe to perform a certain task, which can be anything attainable within the scene, but can't be obviously suicidal. Until the target complies with the order, though, the martial artist's attacks against her have their raw damage increased by the target's Willpower score.

Master's Posture of the Gauntlet

Cost: 6 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Ugly Necessity Kata, Unpleasant Task Imposition, Juggernaut Fist Technique

Taking on the greater aspect of the Gauntlet, the martial artist adopts a spirit of unyielding ferocity; even the mighty flinch in her presence! Subtract one success from the damage rolls for physical attacks made against the martial artist. Additionally, if the target of the Exalt's unarmed Martial Arts attack attempts a parry or dodge, but does not succeed, the martial artist may treat his attack roll (not reduced by the first unsuccessful defense attempt!) as a roll to initiate a clinch, to throw her target, or to trip her target, in addition to the attack's normal effects. This is a Martial Arts Posture-type Charm.
