A short and incomplete list of possible ship's cargos in the Age of Sorrows.

  • Cloth, in bolts of 100 square yards (2 yards x 50 yards)
    • Canvas: 33-pound bolts
    • Cotton: 15-pound bolts
    • Silk: 10 pound bolts
  • Drugs (See Manacle and Coin, p. 53)
    • Cocain, in 75-pound crates (60 pounds of cocaine to the box)
    • Heroin, in 75-pound crates (60 pounds of heroin to the box)
    • Marijuana, in 100-pound casks (80 pounds of marijuana to the cask)
    • Opium, in 75-pound crates (60 pounds of opium to the box)
    • Qat gum, in 75-pound crates (60 pounds of gum to the box)
    • Tobacco, in 75-pound crates (60 pounds of tobacco to the box)
  • Firedust, in 150 pound barrels (100 pounds of firedust to the barrel)
  • Fruit, dried, in 100 pound barrels (70 pounds of fruit to the barrel)
  • Gold, in bar, ingot, plate, or coin.
  • Grain (Unprocessed wheat) in 100 pound sacks
  • Jade, in heavily guarded 100-pound chests at 1 bookkeeping talent to the chest (1,024 obols), or in cut blocks of about 200 pounds each.
  • Iron, usually in bars of 50 pounds each
  • Salt, in chests of about 50 pounds.
  • Silver, in bar, ingot, plate, or coin.
  • Stone (Marble is used as the base) in blocks ranging from 100 pounds to over a ton.
  • Wine: Transported in either 600 pound barrels (59 gallons to the barrel; 125 pounds empty) or in amphorae of 6 gallons / 80 pounds full.
