The Bleeding Mountain stands in a range somewhere in Creation. Perhaps it is a behemoth, but this seems unlikely; perhaps it is an extrusion of Hell that the gods overlooked. Whatever it is, it is little spoken of.

The mountain itself is not large, as mountains go -- a day's climb at most, and that long only because it is not an easy climb. One side of the mountain -- the other side is normal, albeit somewhat barren, rock -- bleeds constantly. The substance is definitely animal blood, though not necessarily human. The blood seeps from the few patches of soil and flows from small springs all across the mountainside, so that the entire face is covered in gore. Stunted black trees make a determined life among the red, and strange black creatures, winged and not, prowl the mountainside. The winged creatures flock in eerie patterns every nightfall. The mountain overlooks a valley, and is in turned overlooked by the surrounding, blessedly normal peaks. That valley is clearly accursed, as the blood flows from the side of the mountain and fills the center of the valley with a foul lake. There are no fish worth eating in the lake, and the tall grass that grows beside reeks of decay, though it appears healthy. Dangerous beasts and serpents, kin to the mountain creatures, prowl the valley and eat each other up.

I absolutely love the idea, and intend to shamelessly rip it off. Might I suggest that this would make for a particularly compelling shadowland?
