It was six hours later, and the Heroes were on their way back down the Yanaze on board the Mya's Flowing Mane. As the Sabretooth crew handled navigation and Kaiju was finishing treating his rescued people and the other tribeswomen he had found, reassuring them that all would be okay, the Heroes of Chaos were having an intense meeting. Nobody had their usual light-hearted attitude. Mako was somber and terse, Chahailis distracted, and Jasala and Jennarin both confused. As Kaiju entered the meeting, he seemed calm, but he too was cold and somber. They went back and forth on what their options were and how they should proceed.

Should they try and hide the Black Rune they acquired, and risk some future discovery?

Should they restore and then destroy the Soul Mirror?

Should they destroy the Soul Mirror at all, or use it as a mighty weapon against the Deathlords?

Added to this woe was the grim reminder that the Realm still teetered on the brink of civil war, and from what Belasco had hinted at, the Soul Mirror plot was somehow tied into that as well. They continued to argue until they heard a loud splash. They went to the port side of the ship only to find a gruesome bloodstain where Belasco's corpse had lay.

Suddenly Belasco's words echoed in their ears...He couldn't die...

The river and the ship were moving too fast, and the water too dark, to have any hope of finding him. For now anyway, Belasco would escape justice once more. Still, the Heroes had the edge in Inari's crystal, if they could only figure out how to contact her.

And this was the state of things as Chapter Two finally wound to an end. A terrible plot to restore a blade that even the Deathlords themselves feared was in place, the Realm teetered on the brink of total war, and the Heroes of Chaos had made a lot of enemies. As the ship sailed downriver into the dark night, the Heroes of Chaos were faced with their darkest hour...
