Amethyst Slayer Of Trust Style

Background

The Amethyst Slayer of Trust was designed in the dying days of the First Age, as the Sidereals began to see the need for the Usurpation. At first, it was taught in secret only to deal with specific threats; Sidereals with this style could get close to those who could see through any lesser mask, and remove them. As the Great Prophecy drew closer, it became more sought-after, and it was one of the foremost styles used in the Usurpation itself - although many of its users were those who fell to the vengeful retaliations of Solars whose defenses allowed them to survive the first wave of attacks.

After the Usurpation, the breaking of the Mask created a new use for the Amethyst Slayer, and it remains quietly practiced to the present day. Known by at least a dozen elder Sidereals, it is a style that is used less often than it is threatened, and whose users typically keep their knowledge a secret - the better to take advantage of it some day...

Form Weapons

The Amethyst Slayer style treats attacks with garrotes, needles, and daggers (as well as their artifact equivalents) as form weapons. It cannot be practiced in armor.

In addition, practicing the Amethyst Slayer requires exceptional skill at concealing one's motivations. Characters must have at least Socialize

...who walked in a garden with her love...

The character defines a single target as a friend, and through a series of gestures compels him to forget any opposition to her. The character rolls Manipulation + Martial Arts, adding an accuracy bonus equal to her Socialize. If the attack overcomes the target's MDV, it creates an unnatural mental influence - the target believes the character to be an ally, and develops an Intimacy to her. This Intimacy has no more or less force than any others that the target might have, and is not supernaturally enforced - but the target cannot actually break it until the end of the scene, at which point it reverts to an ordinary Intimacy which may be affected normally. The character may only activate this Charm once per target per action.

...whispering sweet nothings in his ear.

The character, through word and deed, convinces her target of his importance to her even as she strikes him down. This Charm supplements an unarmed attack. If the attack succeeds, roll the character's Manipulation + Martial Arts. If she beats the target's MDV, it creates an unnatural mental influence - he will not believe that she meant to attack him. The target must spend 3 Willpower to resist this effect. If the attack failed, the character adds her Essence as bonus dice to the roll.

He swore that they would be always together...

When the character is in danger, someone will rush to her side. The character activates this Charm in response to an attack, and names a target - the target must have an Intimacy to the character, be within the combined movement range of the character and the target, and cannot be the attacker herself. The target interposes herself between the character and the attack; her PDV and DDV are refreshed for the attack, and if it succeeds it will strike the target instead of the character. A target may spend 2 Willpower to ignore this Charm for a single tick.

...that no force would take him away from her.

The character lightly brushes the skin of anyone who currently has an Intimacy towards her. This may require an unarmed attack; if so, the target may not parry unarmed. If the attack succeeds, for the duration of the scene, all damage dealt to the character is reduced by one level after it is rolled. The missing level is applied as unsoakable, unpreventable damage to the target; only a perfect soak Charm can prevent this damage. The character may apply this Charm to several targets during a scene, in which case she decides in what order to assign levels of damage.

And she laughed, and sent him on his way...

The character names a single target, who must be able to hear her voice. Roll the character's Manipulation + Martial Arts, adding her Socialize score as an accuracy bonus. If the result overcomes the target's MDV, the target must immediately leave the presence of the character at her best possible speed - she need not abandon her defenses, however. She must remain outside the presence of the character for the duration of the Charm. This Charm can be resisted at a flat cost of 4 Willpower, in which case the target cannot be affected for a full day.

And waited for the next man.

The character slips into the Ivory Slayer Form, a subtle stance that is all but unrecognizable, but which the learned know to fear. While the Form is active, the character's Socialize and Martial Arts scores are increased by 2; this increase counts for all Charm caps, but may not be used to learn new Charms. In addition, the character is supernaturally trustworthy-looking; she may reflexively attempt to re-establish surprise at the beginning of each action. If she does so, this stealth lasts only for the duration of the character's action - she does not actually vanish, she simply cannot be regarded as a threat.

The Elder Sutra Of Betrayal: One day, the man returned to her, full of hope.

The character places a worm in the back of a target's mind, where it writhes restlessly forever. She chooses a single Intimacy that she knows the target possesses. This Intimacy can never be destroyed; though the target may damage it as much as she wishes, it will always be present. Only a perfect defense against unnatural mental influence or Compulsion effects can prevent this Charm from being activated; once active, only defenses that can be activated after the fact (such as Transcendant Hero's Meditation) can undo the effect. No other force can remove the Intimacy from the target.

If this Charm is used on a target twice, the original Intimacy is no longer invincible; only the most recent application of the Charm applies. A character that successfully defends themselves from this Charm may not be affected by it again for one day.

He showered her with gifts, expressions of his love.

The character reaches out to someone who cares about her, drawing his strength away and leaving nothing behind. She chooses a target, who must have an Intimacy towards her, and rolls Manipulation + Martial Arts at a difficulty of their Essence score. If the roll succeeds, the target must choose either their Willpower or Essence pool - if the target cannot spend Essence, she must choose Willpower. The character may spend the chosen pool of the target's as though it were her own. All anima increases apply to the character, not the target. The target need not be present. A given target may only be affected by this Charm once per scene.

He did not see each gift crumble to dust in her hands...

The character's touch destroys hope, collapsing the power inherent in her target. This Charm supplements an unarmed attack or a simple touch. If the attack is successful, in addition to its normal effects, it collapses the target's chakras. The character chooses either Essence or Willpower. For the duration of the effect, the target may not recover the chosen resource by any means.

...so entranced was he by her beauty.

The character takes on the form of someone who cannot be harmed, for she is the incarnation of a target's desire even as she strikes him down. This Charm supplements an unarmed attack. The attack skips Step 9; no counter-attacks may be activated. In addition, the Charm applies an Emotion effect to the target, regardless of whether or not the attack succeeds. The character chooses a target, who need not be present, and who must have an Intimacy towards her. She rolls her Manipulation + Martial Arts, adding an accuracy bonus equal to her Socialize. If the roll succeeds, the target becomes aware that the character is in danger and her approximate location, and must do everything in her power to reach the character with all speed - this is an unnatural mental influence which is an Emotion effect, and cannot be resisted with Willpower. ...he died.

The character focuses all of the power of the Amethyst Slayer into an attack that cannot be stopped. The attack first generates an Illusion effect that prevents the target from recognizing that an attack is being made; this is a perfect unnatural mental influence. If affected, the target may not activate any Charms, spend any Essence, or take any action to prevent or mitigate the attack.

Next, the attack surpresses all currently-active Charms, spells, and artifacts on the target. This surpression lasts only until the attack finishes resolving, at which point all surpressed effects return to normal force. This effect can only be prevented by perfect defenses against Charm surpression.

The attack itself is perfectly unexpected, unblockable, and undodgeable. If it fails to score enough successes to hit the target, it still hits, dealing base damage. The damage of the attack ignores both natural and armor soak; it can only be reduced by perfect soak. Finally, the character cannot deal fewer post-rolled levels of damage than her Martial Arts score.
