FixThePowerCombatRules

People seem to be complaining about some of the features of the new Exalted Power Combat rules from the Exalted Players' Guide.

This is a place to put debates about the best way to house-rule certain possibly objectionable features, after the style of FixTheSolarCharmTrees (which page I have blatantly plagiarized here :).

It will work like this:

  • If you believe a particular aspect of the Power Combat rules needs revising, create a subpage here with a descriptive name.
  • In that subpage, first list the current rule and then (under your name) your alternative wording and mechanics.
  • Others who want to suggest their own alternatives can add their alternative rule to the page (under their name).
  • At the bottom of each of these pages, people can vote on which rule version they like most (including the original).
  • Please keep comments in a separate Comments section, below the Vote Tally section.
  • If you don't like any of the existing rules, add your own!
  • For a template of how this works, look at the Initiative section below. Please follow the template!

Hope this is useful. --MF

Have you people playtested all these rules that you already want to change? Good grief. At the very minimum run a session or two before you decide, "This rule is crappy, I'm throwing it out." What you're apparently doing is like sending a dish back to the kitchens untasted - because you didn't like the garnish. - willows

The changes suggested so far are pretty minor, and the topic of how to handle held actions has already been explored in other game systems for many years. It's more like sending the dish back because they used a spice you already know you don't like. - Toram

Yup. "I'm sorry, this combat system looks really great, but I didn't realize it had olives in it. Could you please take this back, and have them make me one without the olives? Thanks so much." --MF

I'd be more interested in a set of weapons modifications for non-Power Combat weapons, like a canon ruling that the Lightning Torment Hatchets should be more powerful, even outside strictly canon, non-PC games. -- DODurden
