The inner dock of the mysterious Rising Island. It's hard to explain how the dock here is dry, and it's harder to figure out just what the wrapped up cocoon of off-white metal above it is. The little god the lot of you know as Boy is within it, supposedly working on finding out where 'the Captain's ship' is located.

All around, there are various sealed crates, pristene and masterfully-made, perhaps filled with supplies and whatnot for some extended stay. There are even a few bedrolls in a corner, closed and free from dust. Boy even swept those. Thorough godling.

And, unlike the walls of the tomb area, the walls here are stone-gray, made from some sort of metal; probably steel tempered with some other substance. It's... quiet. Not even the calming sounds of the sea can be heard.

----

Dyna is sitting on one of the bedrolls, legs crossed, and Wizard's Wrath laying across her lap. She's staring idly at the statue of Illuminated Swan, apparently deep in thought.

Rio looks at the crates, curiously. "... I wonder if what's in those is still... there."

Tian is sitting on a crate and sipping tea, glancing down at his moderately-soiled clothes with annoyance. His smoked-glass spectacles are out and on his nose, Justice clanking with each movement of his right arm.

Dyna reaches down to pikc up a cup of tea sitting on the floor at her side, taking a sip, then looking back towards the others. "So... I'm sure you're all wondering the same thing I am..."

<Dyna> "Why me?  Why now?"

Laranth is leaning against the wall, his firewand sitting at his feet. He's taking sips of tea slowly. "We could check on the crates... and I don't know. I wondered that a while ago. By now I suppose it's second nature."

<Tian> I haven't.

<Laranth> If anything, this is... finally some explanation. Perhaps there's order to this after all.

Rio grins at Dyna. "I stopped wondering about that months ago, but... yes, this cannot be a coincidence."

<Dyna> I'm inclined to agree... the "who" doesn't seem nearly as important as the "when".

<Laranth> ... I'm more confused about this place, really. The "when" will handle itself.

<Dyna> ... well, the sooner we know what we've become a part of, the better.

Rio idly steps towards one of the crates, and tries to open it...

Tian finishes his tea and sets it aside. "The reason doesn't matter to me. It's in the past, it's history. The concern is what to do *now*."

<Dyna> These memories... they're hers... but I wonder to what extent they're mine as well.

Dyna motions towards the statue of Illuminated Swan.

At 'confused', the golden ball that is Boy peels from the metal cocoon, and lands close to Rio, forming back into its present metal boy shape. "Captain, I cannot locate your vessel. Either its essence beacon is damaged, or it has ventured far into the Wyld."

Rio blinks, and looks down towards Boy. "... That's fine, thank you for trying."

<Laranth> I'd rather not think about that right now. ... Boy? Could you explain a few things to me?

<Dyna> Your "now" may have to wait, Tian.

As for the crate, it's not too hard to open. Inside are... it looks like books, scrolls here and there, and a largish sealed metal container. Boy turns to Laranth and nods. "Of course, Master Knives."

Tian glances over at Dyna, eyebrow arched. "For what?"

Rio blinks, and reaches down towards one of the books, pulling it up and opening it

Laranth winces a bit at the use of 'Master Knives.' "Well... what do you know about the rest of this structure? Do you just stay here? Do, or did, any besides us come here?"

The book is in rather good shape, but appears to be written in a script Riio simply can't understand.

<Dyna> We'll find out soon enough, I'm sure.  If not, well... that's up to you.

Dyna seems to perk up at the sound of a page turning, and looks at Rio. "... hey, what's that?"

<Rio> ... Um... Dyna? Do you think you can understand this?

<Dyna> Well, I can try.

Rio offers the book to Dyna, making a face.

Tian sets his teacup on the floor gently, sliding off his crate and turning to open it.

Dyna stands up, heading over to Rio and taking the book. She adjusts her glasses in a suitably scholarly fashion and looks it over.

Boy smiles. "I was instructed to stay here and maintain the hangar until you returned. The only other person who came here was Master Blessings, to finish building this." He points to the cocoon.

<Laranth> I... see. What else is on this island, besides the hangar?

The book is apparently a historical text of some sort, written in Old Realm script. Something about a minor war in the 'Southern Reaches'.

<Dyna> Hmm... it's a record of a war in the "Southern Reaches", just a minor one tho'...

<Rio> ... huh.

"There shouldn't be anything else. This place was meant to be out of sight and out of mind, Master." Boy nods, once, then looks to Tian as he opens a crate. A strange sizzle runs along Tian's fingers as the crate opens to reveal preserved foodstuffs of all sorts.

<Dyna> Heehee... I wonder what else is in here...

<Rio> lot's of stuff in this crate...

<Laranth> ... so I see. Thank you.

<Dyna> Really?

<Tian> ..Food.

Laranth sets down the cup of tea, half-finished, and walks towards the crates. "Food and books, then?"

Rio ... pulls out the sealed metal container. "What's this...?"

Tian cants his head to the side and replaces the lid where it was before.

Dyna sets the book aside, and pulls another book out of the crate, opening it and eagerly scanning the pages.

Another light tingle, and the crate seals perfectly. Boy hrms. "Well, things were placed here in case of trouble... Master Blessings said that many things were out there that even mighty men feared..."

Tian then moves onto the second crate and pries it open, hoping for something less discouraging. "Who is this Blessings, anyway?"

Dyna's second book (also in Old Realm), is a saucy little romance novel between a Solar commander and a humble, yet ravishing Blooded... if the somewhat blunt bit of text she reads is any indication.

<Dyna> This is great... there could be prievously unknown major texts in here... ... or trashy romance novels?

<Laranth> Ah! Emergency supplies, then? And yes, please... remind us of this Blessings.

Dyna raises an eyebrow, scanning a few more pages before putting it aside and looking at the container Rio pulled out.

Boy nods. "Captain Stormbringer... that is... hrm. I think it was a healer's kit of some kind. And... Master Blessings! He was... well. I can't fully remember what he was, but he loved to build things! And he owed the Captain a favor, so!"

<Rio> ... Stormbringer? ... hehe.

<Dyna> Hm... let's open that one up.

<Laranth> Hm. And... yes, we should investigate.

Rio looks it over. "Hmm..."

Tian's next crate doesn't produce a tingle. Inside, however, are various piles of clothing, neatly folded. Five piles in all... and quite exquisite, from first glance.

Laranth glances into the crate. ".. ah. They packed well, didn't they?"

<Dyna> Do you see a latch or anything?

Tian blinks, a bit more intrigued by these. He lifts a garment gingerly after wiping his hands, inspecting it for size and intended gender.

The case does have a simple latch on the short side; there's a loop for a small lock, but it's empty.

<Dyna> Huh... well, let's see what's in there.

Tian comes away with a brilliant blue overcoat, light as air and silk-soft to the touch. It has a military look to it, and is made for a largish man. Roughly the size of the Stormbringer statue not too far away.

<Tian> Captain Storm, I believe I've found your clothes.

<Laranth> An extensive wardrobe.

Tian sets it back down neatly, leaving the lid on the top but not sealed, moving to another crate.

Rio blinks, looking towards Tian. "Eh?"

Boy chuckles. "Well! You are the Princes of Creation! It is your duty to look your best... I will never get used to you being a woman now, Captain."

Rio pauses... and looks towards Boy, blinking. "... Is that good or bad?"

<Tian> I think everyone else has an outfit, if you're inclined to retrieve it.

Tian mumbles to himself as he works the crate seal. "How will I explain this to the Guild.."

Laranth starts to take clothes out of the crate, looking each piece over in turn.

Rio licks her lips. "... I don't think we should... let them into this place, at all."

Next crate: its contents seem to be various assorted little trinkets and doo-dads, packed in hastily and perhaps a bit haphazardly. Nothing's broken, but there's a set of delicate stemware on the top of the pile, along with a largish bottle of unlabeled wine.

As for the clothes... dress... robe... slinky silk thing probably meant for special nights... a leather work smock... something made out of material that's just impossibly shaped and crafted, like a snowflake carved into a buffjacket.

Tian glances down at the wine with distaste, sealing the crate and moving on, quickly glancing around to determine the number of unopened crates: five.

Boy shrugs. "You are the Captain. It doesn't matter!"

<Dyna> Obviously not... there has to be some way to keep them from getting in... oh, Rio?  The box?

Rio pauses... and patpats Boy on the head, before looking at Dyna. "Eh?"

Dyna points to the metal box Rio is carrying.

Tian moves onto his fourth crate, then!

Rio offers it to Dyna. "I dunno what this is."

Laranth starts sorting the clothing by probable wearer. "This might take me a while. If others would continue..."

<Tian> Boy, is there a second entrance besides the one we came down?

Dyna takes the box... testing it for weight for a moment... and then opens it.

Tian flips the crate lid open. "Preferably one that isn't easy to get to."

The fourth crate comes open. Inside... well, it's not visible. It's covered with a tarp. As for the case, opening it reveals lancets, plunger-equipped syringes, bandages and gauze, amd various pastes, ointments and such in little carry-friendly bottles and canisters.

<Rio> ... if my ship used to get in here... I'd guess so.

<Dyna> ... medical supplies.

Boy nods. "There is! The dock may be brought level with the sea if you wish!"

<Laranth> Medical supplies? That's handy.

Tian considers for a moment before attempting to pull the tarp aside, which is easily done...

<Tian> And how can we get out through the dock?

Dyna closes the box and sets it down next to the crate it came from. She walks over ot the fifth crate, cracks her knuckles... and does her best to pop the lid off.

... and Tian is greeted to the sight of lots and lots of blocks of rough-cut Jade. Yes, actual Jade.

Tian lets out a rather uncharacteristic whoop.

Laranth looks over from his clothes-folding at Tian and quirks an eyebrow. "What?"

<Tian> All of you, just.. look.

Rio ... looks over to Tian and... the box. "... <b>whoa</b>"

Tian gazes down at the crate in reverent awe.

Dyna turns up... an empty crate. With a somewhat yellowed scroll sitting neatly at the bottom.

<Dyna> ... what, what did he find?

<Rio> You know, I don't think I've seen that much Jade in my life.

Dyna leans into the crate, reaching down to the bottom to pick up the scroll.

Laranth looks. "... <b>well.</b> I see.

<Dyna> ... jade?  You found jade?

The scroll bears a wax seal made from blue wax, and a sigil that appears to be a smiling woman.

<Tian> I'm not entirely sure anyone has.

Tian rubs his palms together excitedly. You can almost <b>hear</b> the gears turning in his head.

<Laranth> You could buy the Cinnabar District with that much jade.

Dyna scoops up the scroll and hurries over to Tian's find. "... <b>wow</b>. ... we're gonna share that, right?"

<Dyna> ... well, I better see what this is.

Rio licks her lips. "... we... they... were planning to stay here a long time, huh..."

<Tian> I.. erm.. well..

Dyna breaks the seal and unfurls the scroll... looking it over with visible interest.

Tian struggles internally for several moments before finally letting out a heavy sigh. "It wouldn't be feasible for any one person to have that much jade and go without undue suspicion."

<Dyna> Then we're careful with how we use it... simple enough.

<Laranth> It does seem best to... use it as a reserve. I'm no businessman, but it seems like that much at once would kill the market.

The script on the scroll is flowing, immaculate Old Realm, stating: "Most splendid allies and friends, I ran out of orichalc, so I had to use what was in storage. My deepest apologies, and I will certainly find a way to repay you, outside of Skyturn's completion." It is signed 'Ten and Five'.

Rio tears her eyes away from the jade, and moves to another box. "... Boy, how was it that you were trying to find my old ship?"

<Tian> And then some. At the very least, we'd have the full force of the Imperial magistrates brought to bear on us. The crimson witch likes her monopoly.

<Dyna> ... I found a letter.

<Laranth> -- from who?

Boy, having gone back to tidying up, turns to Rio. "Your vessel has an essence beacon built into it, Captain. Master Blessings built a similar one into his creation, since they were supposed to be connected."

<Dyna> It's signed "Ten and Five"... it says he ran of out Orichalcum, so he used what was in storage... he apologises and says that he'll make it up, "outside of Skyturn's completion".

Tian blinks. "Skyturn?"

<Dyna> Maybe that's the ship's name?

<Laranth> ... Ten and Five. Two people, or one?

<Rio> ... I see... I'd guess the device up there would be Skyturn?

Boy hrms. "That's Master Blessings... I was wondering what he was doing in that crate... oh, yes, Captain!"

<Rio> Yes?

Laranth glances again at the mass of off-white metal. "It doesn't look like he got too far."

"I wouldn't know. He didn't tell me much... and I cannot blame him. I'm not very bright, unfort." Boy sounds a tad apologetic, then focuses on Rio. "Skyturn." He points to the mass. "... don't tell me you forgot your vessel's name, Captain."

<Rio> ... I've forgotten a lot.

Tian continues in his crate-search reluctantly, moving away from the blocks of jade after one last longing stare. He pops the seal of another container, looking inside.

Rio smiles. "Can you remind me?"

Dyna puts the letter away and walks over to Tian's side, looking inside at more or less the same time he does.

Laranth folds up the last article of clothing and approaches another unopened crate, pausing to see what Tian's uncovered.

Tian discovers what looks to be more artsy pieces; vases, paintings, sculptures. Somewhat abstract, and mostly done in metallics and brilliant primaries. Laranth pops open a crate that's laden down with countless sealed jugs, each the size of a man's head.

"A most terrifying ship, Captain! I know it's had a few names... Sea-Parting Blade, the Golden Arrow of Fate, the Terrible and Mighty Rising Sun Indomitable, Stormbringer's Iron Fist.... I like that last one!" Boy smiles up at Rio.

<Rio> ...

Rio 's eyes widen a bit.

Laranth takes a jug out of the crate carefully and looks it over. "More rations?"

Rio ... wanders away, somewhat in a daze, and sits down.

Boy peers over. "... ah! The unmarked ones are pure water. The marked ones are ale, if I remember right. They should be fine... Captain never let me drink, though. I don't know why." Boy pouts, looking quite upset at that.

<Dyna> Hmmm... some of these are religious pieces, very little-known ones, at that.

<Laranth> Ah, so I see.

Laranth sets the jug down. "We may have to see about the ale. You've been very helpful today."

Tian moves over to the last crate, pausing for a moment before slipping the lid off. "One more.."

Boy brightens up. "Thank you, Master Kni---wait. In my excitement... what do you call yourselves now?"

Dyna follows after Tian, smiling happily.

<Tian> What was I called before?

<Laranth> My name is Laranth. You don't need to bother with the formality, really.

<Rio> ... Rio Storm.

<Dyna> Call me Dyna... ah, Boy?  Do you know Breon?

* Dyna gestures to the massive tiger.

The last one contains assorted little vanity and convenience things; rags, cleaning solutions, some sort of device that's probably a lamp, ink, a stack of parchment sheets... everything one would need for an extended excursion to the Great Beyond, most of it of the highest quality.

Breon, from his resting spot away from all the excitement, looks up at Boy... then goes back to resting. Boy pauses, tapping his chin with a soft plink. "The name is familiar, but... it escapes me, Mistress Dyna. And you..." He points to Tian. "You were Azure-Sky Dragon!"

Tian smiles faintly, shutting the last crate's lid and staring up at the ceiling. "Of course."

<Dyna> Well... we have quite a stash, here.

Laranth nods. "A remarkable number of things. The question is, what do we do with it?"

<Dyna> I have the sneaking suspicion that the answer will find us.

<Rio> ... I say we don't take them up just yet.

"Of course! You were all quite prepared... up? Are there others?" Boy looks both curious and a tad concerned. "I can sink the island if you wish..."

<Laranth> .. yes. If we can return here later, there's no need to bring much up.

<Rio> ... no need to sink the island, no. But I don't want them finding this place...

<Tian> Let's take a few trinkets and tell them the rest was looted or buried.

<Tian> By the time they muster an excavation team, we'll have everything.

<Rio> ... Boy, where does the dock emerge?

<Laranth> If they need evidence, we can show them the first tomb, I suppose.

Boy nods. "I doubt they could come down here, anyway. But I'll make sure to keep your belongings safe, Masters, Captain." Boy points to the opposite end of the hangar, which looks to be more wall. "Once the island rises, that section opens to take in sea water."

<Rio> ... so, the <b>entire</b> island rises... wow.

Tian goes over to the now-empty crate that contained the scroll, nodding once. "We'll use this as the source of the items."

Boy nods. "... I have one question. I seem to have missed alot. Does... does the fact that you're a woman now mean that something's wrong?"

<Dyna> ... you know, if possible... I think we should make use of this place.

<Rio> ... hmm, how to explain it...

Rio looks towards the Boy. "... the world has changed a lot. The Dragon-blooded now rule, and have for centuries."

<Dyna> You have to admit that a dock that can dissapear under the ocean is... potentially very useful.

Boy... blinks, a tad, obviously confused. "But they're... how... now I'm confused, Captain."

<Rio> So are we, to be honest... we'll find out what happened in time.

<Laranth> Things have changed a great deal. I'm not sure where to begin.

Boy stays quiet, swaying a little. The expression on his face is a very unsettled one. "And to think... it only felt like yesterday, the Captain patted me on the head and told me that I was a good servant..."

<Dyna> Well, that much hasn't changed.

<Rio> ... Boy... do you remember what he was going to do the last day you saw him?

<Laranth> We... we'll have to help each other, I think. If you'll help us understand what was, we'll do what we can about the present.

<Dyna> What he can't fill in, I may be able to get out of those books...

<Dyna> I don't know how much of them are actual history, offhand.

Boy nods in reply to Laranth, then fixes on Rio. "He said that he was going... to visit the sea and clear his mind. A vacation, perhaps?"

<Rio> ... hmm...

<Tian> Perhaps we should return before we're declared dead?

<Rio> Perhaps... say, how slowly can you make this island sink?

<Laranth> ... the sinking island. Can we work it into our story?

<Rio> If the island sinks... there is nothing to return to for the Guild, is there?

<Boy> I'll see to cleaning up here, Masters... Captain Storm. Oh! I could probably lower it a meter or so a minute.

<Dyna> I'm fairly sure we could go with that...  Incidents of sinking islands are rare but not entirely unheard of.

<Dyna> But the question is how do we raise it again, once we need it?

<Rio> ... that's a good question.

Rio looks at Boy

<Laranth> True.

Boy smiles. "I can think of something... just a second..." He promptly stuffs his hand into his chest, then yanks out a few long strands of gold, five in all. "Hold on to a part of me. I should be able to know your wills when you are close."

Tian reaches out and takes a strand, winding it into the wrist of his gauntlet.

Dyna reaches out and takes a strand. "... thank you, Boy. I think we're going to need to come up with a proper name for you."

Laranth takes one and thinks for a moment before slipping off his ring and weaving the gold strand around the band.

Dyna smiles and pats Boy on the head.

Rio ... takes a strand, managing to look somewhat bewildered.

"Oh, whatever works..." Boy smiles at the pat, a content little god.

<Dyna> Keep up the good work.

<Laranth> You've done well. We'll need you more in the times to come, I think.

<Dyna> Now...

Dyna twines the strand around the head of her serpent staff.

<Dyna> Tian's got a point.  We shouldn't make them worry.

<Rio> ... should we take... well, those?

Rio points to the artifacts.

Laranth looks down at his firewand. "On one hand, it invites questions. On the other..."

<Dyna> We can claim them as payment.

Boy smiles a little more, then goes back to cleaning things up here and there, making himself unobtrusive.

<Tian> Yes, as payment for fighting the monster and then working our way out of a collapsing island.

<Dyna> Very good.

<Rio> ... well, let's get going then... start sinking the island... in about 5 minutes?

<Laranth> It's quite a quantity of orichalcum, though. Let's hope they don't develop suspicions.

Rio steps towards the empty box. "... and a few trinkets so that they'll be happy... hmm."

Tian moves to the trinket crate, transferring some of the items that look less valuable and less personal on the whole into a burlap sack. "And this should tide them over."

Laranth nods. "There's also what was in the upper tomb, if any of that's still intact..."

<Rio> Right.

<Tian> We'll grab some on the way out.

<Dyna> ... you know, we could just bribe whoever checks us out at port.

<Dyna> For good measure.

Tian glances over at Dyna, an amused smile crossing his face briefly. "Let me take care of that."

<Laranth> If you think that's wise.

<Rio> Yeah, sounds good.

Laranth walks back over the crate of clothes and looks for a big and non-flashy garment in which one might conceivably wrap a firewand.

Rio looks towards Boy. "... We'll be back in a few days."

Boy nods, once. "I await your return!"

Dyna smiles and waves at Boy as she turns and walks away. "Breon, come." Breon rises and lopes over to Dyna's side, rumbling before letting out the feline equivalent of a yawn.

Tian strides towards the exit. Somehow, some way, he's concealed his gauntlet perfectly, not even clanking as he walks.

Laranth picks out a long, dark coat and walks over to his firewand, picking it up and wrapping it into a surprisingly nondescript bundle. As an afterthought, he slips the ring off and into a pocket as he follows Tian out.

Rio adjusts her new sheath and walks away, waving at Boy.
