In the rules for combos, it does not say that you cannot split your initiative action. The general consensus is that it is ok.

The only place it mentions not splitting actions is in the example of a complex, extra action containing, combo. Said Combo example is also so completely messed up that it shouldn't be used as a precedent for anything.

Note however that

Extra Action and Simple charms already disallow splitting of your initiative action.

So if reflexives and supplementals are all you have in your combo, you are free to split your initiative action all you want.

"You are free to split your initiative action all you want." This is true to a point. Among the rules for supplementals in Combos is that the Supplemental Charm must be used for every action the character takes in a turn (unless my memory is wildly mistaken - please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm away from my books). This says to me that (under canon rules) if you split your dice pool, all the actions you take must be of a type that is compatible with the Supplemental Charm in your Combo. I would houserule, though, that Supplemental Charms must be used to supplement "all applicable actions" the character takes in a turn, which would allow more flexibility, and would make Combos like Excellent Strike + Golden Essence Block more viable. - David.

No, I think it's "must be used to supplement every extra action taken this turn" in reference to the Extra Action charms... I think. -- GregLink
