In the First Age the tactics of warfare were different than the second age. Based more around mobility or assaulting heavily fortified places. Trenches and earthworks were not as valued when one could bring in a wide array of force against a point such as air or fast moving flanking forces. Given these truths there were other designs of the Immaculate Earth Dragon Armor used by the Dragonblooded.
