A little story
During one of the beforehand mentioned missions of Traveler and Wu-Go, a twist of fate would befall Wu-Go. The mission was to be simple, to find and destroy an artifact that was supposed to have been lost and leave evidence that it indeed was nothing useful anymore.
As he searched for this item he had came across a child crying in darkened room. With his Destiny of the Crow on, he approached the child with a smile. "Why is you cry small one?" The child only looked up to Wu at first. With a tiny voice he finally spoke "Because I have no place to go. Mommy crys when I go to her and father has died. Mommy misses him. " What a horrible tragedy for this child, he thought. "Come with me then, we shall find some place just for you." He held his hand out. As the child reached up, a golden braclet reflected the little light from behind Wu-go, blinding him. The very item he was to find. "Where did you find that, little one?" He asked softly as he led him to the entrance of the cave he had been exploring. As they reached the light, Wu-go had to stop, pulling a heavy jacket onto himself for his flesh cared little for the light of the Sun.
"Are you afraid of the light?" the child asked and Wu-go only smiled and with a wink he led them out.
They searched for Traveler, for indeed it was a mystery where he had gone. The mountain above them was truly a volcano that had killed many. Only a few had been away in safety when the spirit had awakened. The mystery though you see, for there was no one for Traveler to impress or swoon over.
Now another thought occurred to Wu-Go. If this child had been away with his family, as one would think. What was he doing here now?
"Child, what has brought you here? It is many days ride, weeks on foot. "
With a deep breath the boy looked up at him as they searched what little ruins where left. "We came back, mommy and I. " he explained "To find Father, but father was gone with everyone else. Mommy..." tears streaked down the boys face. Wu-go stopped and knelt down, wiping away the boys sadness.
"Tell me child, what has become of her? Come now, you can trust me." He pulled down the scarf about his face and smiled.
With that the boy looked away, tears still building. "She hurt herself. She brought us here and hurt herself.
She said it was the gods fault. They took Father, hurt us all. She put this on me. " He held up the bracelet.
Even then Wu-Go was not sure how to remove it from the boy without harm since it seemed to have been locked on.
"I am sorry. It is not the gods fault, truly. Someone else had done this. But none of that matters now. Come, pray with me. The ones who watch over us all shall know what to do. " He rested on the ground while the child sat next to him.
Together they sat in silence, though really Wu-Go was asking for a little hint of this boys fate.
Sadly his prayer was answered. The boy would never truly be allowed to grow old. He was to be filled with hate and anger.
He would kill many and ruin the lands.
Soon he would be driven mad by one of the Fair folks touch. Even that should not be. With new orders and a sad smile, he knew what he would have to do.
With a heavy heart he stood and helped the boy up. "Come, we go now. I know of a place just for you."
The boy smiled, with a hopeful look.
"I am Gu-Mo-Xo-Wa, what is your name? Hmm?"
The boy looked up and smiled "My mommy always called me Yohji."
He's just a child he thought.
How could he ever cross the fair folk?
But his duty was not to question how or why.
"Alright Yohji. Come along then."
The boy turned and they searched.
As Yohji sought after someone he had never met, Wu-Go said a prayer for the boy. He pulled out his PTR's and took aim. He would make it quick and as painless as he could. "Yohji, I think you found him. I thank you, be at rest."
Shortly later, Traveler and him met upon the mountain.
Saying everything with the smile of his eyes, they left for Yu Shan.
