Wary Watchdog Attitude
Cost: 5 motes per dot, 1 willpower Duration: Indefinite Type: Simple (Transformation) Minimum Investigation: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: None
The Lunar sharpens his senses, hones his reflexes, and otherwise restructures his body to best take advantage of even the most minute information - strengthening his ability to perceive even the slightest clue. This Charm allows the Lunar to boost his Perception at the cost of 5 motes per dot, to a maximum of his Essence or Investigation, whichever is less. The increased Attribute counts as natural for the dice-adder limits of Lunar charms.
This is a Transformation Charm of the Mysteries Totem.
Body Betrays Mind
Cost: 2 motes Duration: Instant Type: Simple Minimum Investigation: 2 Minimum Essence: 1 Prerequisite Charms: None
As Emotion-Revealing Scent, in E: the Lunars.
Truth-Scenting Method
Cost: 4 motes Duration: One Scene Type: Simple Minimum Investigation: 3 Minimum Essence: 1 Prerequisite Charms: Body Betrays Mind
As in E: the Lunars. However, as targets will STILL have some sort of physiological response from twisted words and half-truths, the Lunar can sense those with a Perception + Investigation roll, difficulty of subject's Essence. If the target is sharing a statement that they have some reason to believe is untrue (Saying 'Bob saw Jack' while thinking 'Bob told me that he saw Jack, but Bob was probably lying'), the Lunar may catch this as well - the difficulty in this case is the subject's Essence + 2. The Charm does not allow for much degree of differentiation between statements, however - the Lunar may have difficulty sorting the lies from the half-truths from the uncertainties, especially if the subject is an accomplished liar.
Canny Moonsilver Magistrate
Cost: 7 motes, 1 Willpoer Duration: One Scene Type: Reflexive Minimum Investigation: 4 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Body Betrays Mind, Wary Watchdog Attitude
The Lunar takes on some role, some predetermined 'theme' for his attitude and actions that allows him to adapt his methods to his audience, playing to their sympathies or fears. Upon activating this Charm the Lunar selects a Virtue. Subjects whose level in that Virtue is lower than the Lunar's Essence will, unless otherwise influenced by Charms, sorcery, or circumstances, freely share information with the Lunar, to the best of their ability. Lunars refer to this Charm differently depending on its applications. The subject can, if he is aware of the mystical effect, expend a point of Willpower to overcome it.
- Awe and Terror Magistracy: Plays to the subject's Valor - those with low Valor are too intimidated by the Lunar's seeming authority to attempt to hide information from him.
- Whispers and Gossip Magistracy: Plays to the subject's Temperance - those with low Temperance feel the need to gossip to the Lunar about the juicy stories they're privy to.
- Scorn and Spite Magistracy: Plays to the subject's Compassion - drawing them to comment on incidents out of a perverse joy in the misfortunes of others.
- Wheedling and Tempting Magistracy: Plays to the subject's Conviction - getting them to betray whatever would otherwise keep them quiet with repeated entreaties and promises.
Allows the Lunar to purchase automatic successes on any attempt to portray oneself as another (be it through disguise, voice mimicry, or in forgery), up to his Performance or Charisma, whichever is lower.
Entrail-Reading Scene Analysis
Cost: 6 motes Duration: Instant Type: Simple Minimum Investigation: 4 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Body Betrays Mind, Wary Watchdog Attitude
The Lunar overlooks the scene of some crime or other event, drinking in the disturbances in scent, noting oddities of color or placement, and forming a mental 'image' of the scene as it took place. This Charm allows the Lunar to, with a Perception + Investigation roll, piece together the progress and nature of events inside an incident. It will not function on disturbed crime scenes but will function on those deliberately marred by the criminal. The successes on the Perception + Investigation roll indicate the degree of information established, as per these guidelines.
- 1 success: Gender and age of people in location, some information on direction and means of entry and exit, understanding of damage suffered and rough idea what caused it. ("A drunk 30-year old man killed a woman in this room with a club, then dragged the body out the side exit.")
- 3 successes: As 1 success, with detail as to health, general nature of people in location, and more insight into objects used. ("The man has a bad heart and the woman was pregnant. She stood facing the wall when he struck her, with an oak club.")
- 5 successes: Details of other things the locals did during the day in question, insight into emotional states. ("The man was furious at the woman, presumably because the child wasn't his. He smells of a tanner's shop while she works in a place where food is served.")
Harrying the Prey
Cost: 4 motes Duration: Indefinite Type: Simple Minimum Investigation: 4 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Body Betrays Mind, Wary Watchdog Attitude
The Lunar makes an offhand statement or announcement that, while seeming noncomittal, will allow a suspect to infer that the Lunar is on to them. The character may activate this Charm while making such an announcement, which the target must overhear and understand. This Charm has little mechanical effect - it merely drives home to the subject that he is running out of time, driving him to acts of hasty desperation or causing him to trip up. In situations where the Lunar and the suspect socially interact, for as long as this Charm remains active, the suspect suffers a difficulty penalty to all checks equal to the Lunar's Essence.
