Quendalon's Spells

The Terrestrial Circle

Rite of the Spirit Friend

Cost: 20 motes

While mortal heroes and lesser Exalts may bond with the beasts of the earth and the air, only the spirits and elementals of Creation’s wild places truly merit a sorcerer’s respect. With this spell, the sorcerer may form a pact of Essence with a willing spirit or elemental. Treat the spirit as a five-dot Familiar; each may speak to the other without words, each may borrow one of the other’s senses while within 100 yards, and each gains a pool of 5 additional motes of personal Essence that may only be accessed while in physical contact with the other. If the spirit is dispersed due to damage or loss of temporary Willpower, it reforms in the character’s presence after one week per point of permanent Essence. A character may only have one Spirit Friend or Familiar at a time, and may not have both.

Water Dragon’s Raiment

Cost: 10 motes

When this spell is cast, a sheet of pure water pours off of the sorcerer’s skin. It covers the character’s entire body except for her eyes, nose and mouth, spilling off of her onto the ground into an endless cascade. This watery sheath cools and refreshes in even the hottest desert weather, while still being warm enough to keep the character comfortable in chilly conditions short of freezing. Insects and other parasites shy away from the flow. This watery layer offers additional bashing soak equal to the caster’s permanent Essence. Armor and clothing float upon the cushion of water; this negates all fatigue penalties for armor.

The character sheds all water at the end of the scene, completely drying his body and possessions. This will not repair any water damage to delicate garments and the like; the sorcerer is advised to avoid carrying such items on her person when using the Water Dragon’s Raiment. Water left behind by the spell remains; it is fully refreshing, and may be drunk or used to water crops. The spell lasts for one scene.

The Celestial Circle

Sublime Refinement of Matter

Cost: 30 motes

All earthly materials are but a concatenation of the five elements, mingled together upon a weft of Essence. The master sorcerer may cleanse the Essence of matter of all detritus and impurity, transforming it into something finer. This spell transmutes any base substance into a nobler one. Tree bark becomes cinnamon, canvas becomes silk, lead becomes gold, and glass becomes diamond.

Each casting of the spell affects a single object no larger than a table or a suit of armor. Any mundane material can be transformed into something of value; the wealth provided by a single casting of the spell can provide up to five dots of Resources if used wisely. Food and drink become of the finest quality, no matter how foul, poisonous or inedible it may have been. Any mundane item can be likewise improved, becoming a Perfect item (see the Exalted Player’s Guide, page 145).

This spell cannot create any of the Five Magical Materials, nor can it generate substances not found in Creation. Exactly what a given material can be refined into is up to the discretion of the Storyteller.

Comments

Does Water Dragon's Raiment soak and ruin clothes? I would think not- in which case, it could also provide a Fatigue reduction from wearing armor in inclimate weather. DS

I've elaborated on the spell's function. Thanks for pointing that out! - Quendalon
