This is not a complete martial art. Rather, it is but one branch of the Fivefold Way of Battles Style.

Versatile Wit - The Quiver

The Quiver carries a bow or a map case. He is clever and witty. His valor is not so important as his education.

Strategy, choices, haste, pride, archery, boorishness, self-absorption, clever ideas, duelists

Characters who learn these Charms as if they were Sidereal Charms may freely Combo them with Sidereal Archery Charms. Such a character may also choose to substitute her Archery Ability for the Martial Arts Ability any time the Charms of the Quiver call for a use of the Martial Arts Ability, other than for the purposes of meeting the minimum Ability requisite for learning the Charms.

The Opportune Moment

Cost: 3 motes per counterattack
Duration: Until Released
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Martial Arts: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Unnamed Quiver Charm 1

Retribution is enticing, but the student of the Quiver knows that it often behooves her to wait for the opportune moment to retaliate. When the martial artist is attacked in close combat, she may invoke this Charm to generate a single counterattack against her attacker at her full dice pool. Rather than launch this attack immediately after the provoking attack is resolved, however, the Exalt stores these counterattacks, to unleash them in a later turn. No more counterattacks can be stored at one time than the martial artist's permanent Essence rating. Until the counterattacks are released, the Essence spent on this Charm is committed, but this Charm may be placed in Combos in spite of its duration. Unspent counterattacks fade at the end of the scene, and the Essence committed to them is freed. This Charm may not be used in response to a counterattack, nor may counterattacks be used in response to this Charm's effects.

The Ninth Direction

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Martial Arts: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Fivefold Way of Battles Form

Though an adversary may be ready in eight directions, there is always a ninth one to approach from, eluding even the most cunning opponents. Attacks enhanced with this Charm are considered unpercieved, greatly limiting the defensive options of most opponents. Furthermore, counterattacks may not be used in response to this attack.

Comments

Do the 'counterattacks' from opportune moment have to tagret the person who attaked? Can they be countered? Or are they something not quite a counterattack at all? - Scrollreader Who already told you about the Ninth

They're counterattacks. You can't counter counterattacks. :) And yes, they target the person who attacked. I should probably see about writing a clearer version of that Charm, if I can figure out how to do so. - David.
