Masking
Hide of the Cunning Hunter
Cost: 1 mote
Duration: One day
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 1
Minimum Essence: 1
Prerequisite Charms: None.
The Lunar hides her tatoos, and they are not able to be detected even with the use of magic as long as this Charm is in effect.
Masking the Brilliant Form
Cost: 3 motes per +1 difficulty
Duration: Indefinite
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 2
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Hide of the Cunning Hunter.
Every 3 motes committed to this Charm increase the difficulty to spot the tell by 1. This Charm may not increase that difficulty over the limit.
Essence-Masking Prana
Cost: 5 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Masking the Brilliant Form.
The Lunar is able to hide his Essence as if it was his Tell or Tatoos - as long as this Charm is up, Charms that are able to see the Lunar's Permanent Essence or Essence Pool, such as Essence-Discerning Glance and the ghostly Aura-Reading Technique, see no Essence on the Lunar.
Shadowed Divinity Prana
Cost: 6 motes, 1 willpower, 1 health level
Duration: Indefinite
Type: Simple
Minimum Manipulation: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Essence-Masking Prana.
This Charm may only be used when the Lunar is not on his True Forms - he swallows his own Exalted Shard, locking it deep within his Essence. For the remainder of the scene, his Peripheral Essence is locked, and the Lunar may not access it. But it gives a great advantage : for all intents of investigation, even supernatural, the Lunar is not seen as an Exalted. No Charm may make his Anima flare, or reveal his Caste Mark, even if just in an individual's essence sight. The only hope to notice a Lunar under this Charm's effects is to notice his Tell. This is not a Perfect Effect, and thus, Perfect Awareness effects such as Eye of the Unconquered Sun will be able to see him as a Lunar, but nothing short of perfection will.
Unassuming Pilgrim Technique
Cost: None
Duration: Permanent
Type: Special
Minimum Manipulation: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Essence-Masking Prana.
Some Lunars become preternaturally able to hide their markings, concealing them instinctively any time they are gazed. The Lunar adds +1 to the difficulty of spotting her Tell. This does increase the maximum difficulty above 6. This Charm may be purchased as many times as half the Lunar's Essence(rounded down)
Stealth
Stealthy Fox Method
Cost: 2 motes per die
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Dexterity: 2
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Silver-Soul’s Dexterity.
For the remainder of the scene, the Lunar adds one die to all of his stealth rolls per 2 motes spent.
Chameleon Skin Disguise
Cost: 2 motes per die
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Stealthy Fox Method, Dexterity of the Moon-Kissed.
Using this Charm, the Lunar is able to shift his skin like a Chameleon's, and adjust his texture and color to match the ambient. As long as the Lunar stands still, he converts a number of dice equal to his dexterity into automatic successes. The Lunar may not use this Charm while clothed, however, but Moonsilver Armor does not count as clothing for the purposes of this Charm.
Shadowy Octopus Defense
Cost: 6 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 4
Minimum Essence: 2
Like an octopus, the Lunar creates darkness all around her. The Lunar come creeping strands of purest shadow, rapidly growing to form a cloud of blackness (his permanent Essence x 10) yards across. Inside is total darkness and a bitter chill, to the detriment of the Exalt and his foes alike. The cloud stays in one place and does not move. It persists for a scene, before slowly receding as the area appears clearly again.
Face of Nobody Technique
Cost: 3 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Wits: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Chameleon Skin Disguise.
The Lunar changes his features for a moment, blanking them. He becomes nobody - a face to be overlooked. When someone first lays his eyes on him, the Lunar may use this Charm. The Lunar rolls his Wits+Larceny or Craft(Shapeshifting) against the onlooker's Wits+Awareness. If the Lunar wins, the onlooker just sees a gray face, something to overlook, certainly nothing he should worry about or search for. This, of course, only works in areas a creature is to be about. The roll comes before a roll to notice the Lunar's Tell, and an opponent that has lost does not get a roll to do so. This change lasts only a moment, and must be used again and again if the opponent keeps looking at the Lunar.
Object-Concealing Method
Cost: 3 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Stealthy Fox Method.
The object-concealing method allows a Lunar both to find a suitable place of concealment for an item and to enhance its protections against even a deliberate search. The Lunar's player rolls Wits+Survival, usually against a difficulty of 1 but pehaps higher in terrain with very few hiding places. If she suceeds, the Lunar has found a place of concealment for the item within(her Wits x10)yards. This adds to the difficulty of any Perception+Awareness or Investigation to locate the item, and it can never be discovered by accident.
Ally-Concealing Method
Cost: 4 motes per person
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Stealthy Fox Method.
This Charm functions as per the Object-Concealing Method, save that the object being hidden is another character. The concealing Charm remains active so long as the affected character remains calm and relatively still. Attacking will disrupt the camouflage. A Lunar may conceal as many people at once as his Essence trait, each costing 4 motes. A Lunar cannot use Ally Concealing Method to hide himself.
Traceless Passage Technique
Cost: 4 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Day
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Wits of the Moon-Kissed.
A signature move of the Waning Moon, Traceless Passage allows the Lunar to conceal all the evidence of her passage. Trackers cannot follow the Lunar without magic, and those using Charms have a difficulty to follow equal to the Lunar's Wits. This does not gives the difficulty against other Lunars.
Track-Sweeping Essence
Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Day
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Traceless Passage Technique.
This is equal to Traceless Passage Technique, but the Lunar may hide the tracks of a number of people equal his Essence in addition to his own.
Labyrinth of Mist Essence
Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: A Lunar Phase
Type: Simple
Minimum Manipulation: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Track-Sweeping Essence.
Also indicated is BogMod's Stealth, especially the great Sun-Before-Moon Method! *Nods*
Illusion
- As creatures of deception, Fair Folk are immune to all of the Lunar's powers of illusion, if they possess greater permanent essence than the Lunar.
Phantom-Conjuring Performance
Cost: 5 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Charisma: 3
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Charisma of the Moon-Kissed.
As in Exalted: The Lunars, page 174. Solars no longer possess this Charm(Those that follow it are adjusted to Masterful Performance Exercise)
Riches from Rags Method
Cost: 5 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 2
Minimum Essence: 1
Prerequisite Charms: Silver-Soul's Wits.
The Lunar covers an object smaller than himself with illusions, making it appear as something else - as unobtrusive or showy as the Lunar desires. This cover is dispelled if one handles it with any care for more than a turn. Otherwise, it is simply impossible to see! This may add bonus dice equal to the Lunar's Essence to Larceny or Bureaucracy rolls, or offset a Socialize, Presence or Performance penalty for the lack of adequate attire(as the Lunar simply pretends he is dressed as regally as he could be).
Masterful Veil of Illusion
Cost: 10 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Riches from Rags Method.
The Lunar pulls a veil of illusion over herself, appearing as anyone she is familiar with for a scene. Neither her scent nor her voice change. The veil fades whenever the Lunar enters sufficient physical interaction with someone(such as combat or sex) or if she displays any level of anima banner. Onlookers can still try to spot the Lunar's Tell. This power is the Changing Moon anima, specific for a 5-Caste Lunar games. In games with the Changing Moons Caste, it is advised that it does not exist.
Shadow Presence Method
Cost: 4 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Masterful Veil of Illusion.
The Lunar, when he knows he is being watched, makes a illusion of himself, or one other, in a place no farther than ten times his Wits. This illusion is mostly static, and stays in one place doing simple actions, but can fool those watching the Lunar who fail a contest between their Wits+Awareness and the Lunar's Wits+Performance. It will easily be revealed as what ephemeral if it is so much as touched.
Shattered Mirror Practice
Cost: 6 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Wits: 3
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Shadow Presence Method.
The Lunar flows her image like a mirror, and then, breaks her essence, a thousand splinters breaking in the air, each and every one an image of the whole, and yet, all incomplete. The Lunar knows who she is herself, but all others who view her view the many images moving around one another in a dance that confuses and misleads all attackers. For the remainder of the scene, anyone attempting to attack the Lunar needs to pass a reflexive Wits+Awareness with a difficulty equal to the Lunar's Essence. If the target fails, it hits one of the images instead of the real Lunar.
Army of Smoke Shadows
Cost: 6 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Scene
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Appearance: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Riches from Rags Method.
Peacocks, with the eyes on their plumages, appear to be much greater than they are. Certain moths' wings appear to be two great eyes, and when resting against a tree, appear to be a great beast, keeping predators away. Based on such principles, the Lunar pulls a veil of impressive illusion - he appears to be much greater, a beast dozens of feet tall or a general flanked by an army. The Lunar rolls Manipulation+Presence against a difficulty equal to the highest onlooker's Conviction+Essence. If the Lunar suceeds, they believe the Lunar is an overwhelming force, and they must do all the Lunar commands, within reason(usually to run screaming, or leave a place). Those facing the Lunar may roll to spot her Tell, and if they suceed, they are unnaffected by the illusion. Those may also try to warn others of it, rolling performance or presence as usual, although the difficulty is set at how many successes the Lunar had on his roll. This Charm has no effect on those with a higher Permanent Essence than the Lunar.
Palace of Dreams Method
Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Lunar Phase
Type: Simple
Minimum Appearance: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Riches from Rags Method.
A favorite trick of the Waxing Moons, the Lunar pulls a veil of illusion over a place, a room or a building, something with clear boundaries up to the Lunar's (Essencex100) in yards. It becomes something else, anything he chooses it to be. It may look as luxurious as he wishes, or as terrible. This illusion may not be pierced except by Fair Folk and Charms that see Essence. If one takes something from the place and looks at it in detail, it will seem like it truly is, but for all intents and purposes, for all five senses, the place is as the Lunar wishes it to be. It cannot, however, create a place that is not there - the Lunar may make a crumbling tower into a luxurious pearlescent spire, may make a clearing into an open feasting hall, but may not create a tower where there is none, or make a clearing into a lake. He may turn a particularly-looking tree into a fountain, however.
Deadly Misdirection
Hypnotic Body Technique
Cost: 4 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Manipulation 2
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Silver-Soul's Manipulation.
The Lunar covers himself in marks, be they stripes, scales or plumage, that constantly undulate as he moves, his movements twisting, hypnotic, making it hard for opponents to notice exactly where to strike. The Lunar adds half his Essence, rounded down, to the difficulty of all attacks made against him.
Serpent Eye Defense
Cost: 2 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Manipulation 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Hypnotic Body Technique.
By locking his eyes with an opponent and activating this Charm, the Lunar distracts him, making him miss his strike. The opponent must be able to see, and to see the Lunar in the eye – usually that means he must be within the opponent’s Perception x5 yards – the opponent may avoid looking, but he may not do that after the Lunar declares this Charm. Once the Charm has been used, the opponent may declare he is avoiding the Lunar’s gaze. Trying to avoid looking at the Lunar adds 2 to the difficulty of all actions involving the Lunar, including attacks and defenses. When an opponent is stung, the Lunar subtracts a number of dice from the attack equal to his Manipulation score.
Running Through the Herd
Cost: 6 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Manipulation 4
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Serpent Eye Defense.
Improving on the technique of Serpent Eye Defense, the Lunar uses shifts of his body or illusion to make an enemy not only miss him, but hit another target. The Lunar rolls his Manipulation+Dodge as a Dodge attempt, with a difficulty equal to the attacker’s Perception. If the attacker channelled willpower or Temperance, it adds to this difficulty. If the Lunar suceeds, the Lunar is not hurt, and the strike hits a target within the Lunar’s Permanent Essence in yards instead.
Smiling Fox Feint
Cost: 2 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Manipulation 3
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Hypnotic Body Technique, Manipulation of the Moon-Kissed.
The Lunar strikes by blinding the opponent with silver light, their giggle the only thing that can be heard. While employing this Charm, the Lunar substitutes her Dexterity for her Manipulation while making a close combat attack. Each success on this roll subtracts one die from the target's defensive rolls against the next attack unaffected by this Charm that the Exalt makes. This can reduce pools to zero; the dice subtracted are deducted from the first defensive roll, and if any remain they are deducted from the second defensive roll, and so on. These pool reductions do not carry over from one attack to the next, however.
Prince of Tricksters Attittude
Cost: 9 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Manipulation 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Serpent Eye Defense, Smiling Fox Feint
The Lunar assumes the smiling face of Luna, becoming a grinning trickster, dancing around all attacks made against him, making sure all they do is make his foes' life worse! For the remainder of the scene, the Lunar adds a number of dice equal to his Manipulation to all dodges, and may dodge all incoming attacks, and Social Actions. If the Lunar has no defense, he may Dodge with his Manipulation. The Lunar may also use every success he has on a successful dodge above the opponent’s attack on a successful dodge as a penalty on the Lunar’s actions against the opponent on the turn the attack is dodged or the next. The penalty for each enemy may not be greater than the Lunar's Manipulation.
