Hearthstone Relay

  • back to CrunchRelay.
  • back to HearthStones.
  • HearthstoneRelay/Template
  • to FormatStandards/HearthStoneFormat

Rules

  • The first person in each relay archives the old page and decides on a new theme.
  • The second person then comes up with a one-dot hearthstone for that theme.
  • The third, fourth and fifth people then come up with two, three and four dot hearthstones, respectively.
  • The sixth person comes up with a five dot hearthstone, archives the old page, and decides a new theme. Thus, the wheel of wiki life turns afresh.

The 47th theme is Hip-Hop

Its four elements are MCing, DJing, graffiti, and breakdancing.

Goldtooth Gem (Ikselam)
Solar Manse 1
Trigger: None

This golden lump is encrusted with what appear to be small, sparkling diamonds (but are actually part of the hearthstone itself); when it is attuned, the small jewels rearrange to spell out the wearer's name. In addition, it coats the character's teeth with gleaming orichalcum. These golden teeth emit wisps of potent Solar essence into words passing the character's lips, granting him one bonus die to all social rolls which involve speech. When the character is overcome by great passion -- channelling a Virtue, or in the grips of Limit Break -- the gem instead grants one extra success.

If the character wishes, he may easily remove the gold teeth, but forfeits the stone's benefits when he is not wearing them. If the stone becomes deattuned, the teeth melt away, whether they are worn or not.

Spontaneity Stone(Jamrock) (Paincake)
Lunar 2
Trigger: Performance Rolls and Certain Archery Rolls*

This stone is dull and grey like gunmetal, and exudes clarity of intent. Any successful performances made while this weapon is socketed on a held artifact gain the optional benefit of being intimidating, and you gain the specialty: Freestyle regardless of whether it is socketed or not. Its cold quickness also aids your perceptions and hone in on moving or fleeing enemies and can really help you pop a cap in someone while riding by. (Any archery rolls made from horseback or other mount/vehicle receive a +2 benefit. This benefit extends to larger and more complex weapons only if the hearthstone is socketed into them.)

Gem of the Primal Beat (Han'ya)
Solar 3
Trigger: Exposure to Rhythmic Sound

Appearing as a dark gem of swirling black and red, that can be felt to pulsate faintly, this hearthstone is rare, and its effect disconcerting for most. This hearthstone allows the character to become one with the primal beat, the rhythm of Creation itself. The pulsations of the flows of the world's Essence flow through them as well, gifting them with an innate understanding of rhythm and beat, as well as boosting their dancing skillz to truly m4d levels.

All Performance rolls relating to dancing or playing drums gain (Essence) automatic successes when in the presence of a rhythmic sound (e.g. drumbeat). All rolls relating to determining the tempo or sequence of any rhythm, musical or otherwise, gain automatic successes equal to the character's permanent Essence. While in combat, gain (Essence) to Dodge DV while unarmored. If no rhythmic sound is present, the bearer may make a (Perception+Awareness+Relevant Specialties) or (Perception+Medicine+Relevant Specialties) roll at standard difficulty, whichever they prefer, to attune themselves to their own heartbeat.

Rhymestone (Ambisinister)
Solar 4
Trigger: Constant

At first glance this hearthstone would appear to be a clear diamond of complex cut. Closer inspection will reveal it to instead have the character of a glitzy knock-off. Possession of the Rhymestone grants the user a preternatural and oddly intimidating facility with rhyming. As a result, he may substitute his performance rating, (including specialties) for his presence or socialize ratings in any situation. The stone also gives the bearer a 2 point "Rhyming" performance specialty. This can coexist with other specialties but the character may not benefit from more than 3 dice of combined specialties on any single roll. Finally, factor the character's performance rating into his MDV calculation.

Blood and Crypt Brand (magicpreppy)
Lunar 5
Trigger: Simple Action

This Hearthstone manifests as an unassuming piece of chalk. Whenever someone uses the hearthstone to write, the created text or drawing appears as if it was written in blood when it is hit by the light of the moon. At that time the object or building written upon takes on the air of an open grave.

This clever hearthstone was created by a Lunar savant in the First Age who was desperate to escape the abuse of her Solar mate. A veteran of the Primordial War, she knew that even the powerful had their weaknesses, and sometimes their greatest power and very nature were those weaknesses. Any object or building that was written or drawn on with this hearthstone has an a blood ward on it. The ward extends around the building for a distance equal to the bearer of the Brand's permanent Essence in yards. The true insidious nature of this stone is revealed when someone tries to penetrate this ward. Someone uninvited may only enter the territory if they pass a Conviction roll at a difficulty of of 1 plus their permanent Essence.

The Blood and Crypt Brand has five uses before its owner must wait a week for it to reform. Only ten wards may be active at any given time.

Comments

You may want some fluff on that stone, Paincake. Otherwise, both of these new ones seem okay, though Han'ya, what's the difficulty of that latter roll? Could do with a bit of a power boost, too. - LeumasWhite

Standard diffy, and I thought I might have overpowered it, but you've got a point. It's changed. - Han'ya

I hope everything was done correctly. I don't trust my wiki fu, so could someone please start the new topic "beauty is pain"? magicpreppy

Done and done - ArabianNinja, Whose Wiki'fu is Strong.
