Dragon-Blooded essence is raw, elemental and destructive! Most of them like it that way but some of their techniques are damaging even to themselves and that is the purpose of this charm. This charm mitigates the internal damage caused by these techniques to a more manageable level.
Whenever a charm of the appropriate element would cause damage to the user, the Dragon-Blooded may roll a number of dice equal to her Breeding at a difficulty equal to the charm’s essence requirement. Success converts aggravated damage to lethal, lethal damage to aggravated and stops bashing damage all together. It offers no benefits for Dragon-Blooded who use a charm's Martyr effect (shame on you!)
Unlike many elemental charms a Dragon-Blooded can learn more than one version of (Element) Essence Refinement, but she must always learn the version associated with her element first.
