Big things happening in Creation that will (probably) affect the course of the PC's lives. Note that they may not necessarily know about them immediately.

The Season of Wood, RY 768

• In the north, the raids of the Northmen on the coast of the Inland Sea are reaching unheard-of heights. Some longship-borne bands have even struck the Blessed Isle. At the behest of Houses V'Neef and Ragara, the Merchant Fleet is preparing to launch an operation against the barbarians before winter sends them back to their hiding places. It is aided in this by three of House Ragara's "private" legions and Cherak, which is threatened by the raiders.

• In the Scavenger Lands, the Mask of Winters's war against the Marukani Alliance is spreading. Lookshy launched a failed assault against the DeathLord's armies, and the Second Field Force (gotta look that up) is now bottled up in Celeren, along with thousands of civilians. Juggernaut has begun to move toward the doomed city. The Third Field Force is besieged in the Marukan Redoubt. Bickering among the Confederation of Rivers has delayed any other of the Scavenger nations from aiding one side or the other. Rumors abound:
  • The Realm is secretly allied with the Mask of Winters.
  • A mysterious force is aiding the Mask of Winters with flying creatures and machines.
  • The Floating Dead have begun prowling north of Thorns, making incursions on shore and adding to their numbers with hapless villagers and fisherfolk.
  • The Walker In Darkness is preparing to march on Great Forks in alliance with the Mask of Winters.
  • On the contrary, The Walker In Darkness has made a secret alliance with the Confederation of Rivers! (Sounds of a bar brawl ensue.)
  • The Roseblack is sailing for Thorns -- but no one knows why!
  • The Realm is waiting to see who wins, and will crush the survivors.
