Background

Autumnal Torrent Style
This Style is applicable with segmented armor. Treat attacks with Tiger Claws, Rope Darts, and Nunchakus as unarmed attacks for the purposes of charms in this style. Whenever a charm of this style is activated the practitioner gains +2 yards to their movement that must be used.

History
While the Mist of the Forest Witches, sometimes known as Domnica or Domnica’s Legacy, holds the offer of perfection in one simple and beautiful step, the chance to forsake the nature of one’s birth and make oneself anew, not many have the strength or courage to make that step for the Witches believe in perfection found internally and few can claim with certainty to properly understand what one ought to become. Of those few, the Numina of the Mist, Iurka: the Autumnal Torrent embodies dance, battle, destiny, and the stars. She carved away her own stillness and for this reason may never rest. To think of motion is to move, and she pours through the world like water driven by a storm. Such is the power of Iurka that she has made thought and action one. Without stillness pain cannot take hold.

There have always been those who would worship the Numina and seeing the ultimate perfection of Iurka one follower too weak to make the final step sought to emulate the Autumnal Torrent. To reach a state where he too could say nothing hurt him that he did not already suffer. Gaavarva, for such was the name of the Martial Artist and Priest who sought the perfection of the Mist but could not find his own perfection, developed this style in order to touch upon the perfection of another, his god, The Autumnal Torrent.

Style

Life Without Hope Approach

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-Ok
Min. Martial Arts: 3
Min. Essence: 1
Prerequisite Charms: None

Foreknowledge, foresight…these things are said to be the worst curses known to man, and at the same time the most wished for. In a small approximation of the power of Iurka the Martial Artist maintains a disturbing 6th sense in regards to their future and because of it are able to live without hope. If the user is the one to trigger join battle they may act on tick 0, otherwise this charm may be activated to gain Essence dice to join battle. Either way the Martial Artist gains +2 to their DDV.

Complacency Flaying Blade

Cost: 3 or 5 motes
Duration: Two Actions
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-OK, Counterattack
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Life Without Hope Approach

Along any person’s fate lies a thin sheen of laxness and complacency, which with enough personal strength and unyielding drive can be flayed viciously from oneself. Torn free with almost suicidal disregard for self the Martial Artist gives themselves over to unending movement without any hope of reprieve. If the Martial Artist is attacked unexpectedly they may counterattack with a clinch attempt and optionally throw or alternatively if they are attacked normally the Martial Artist may counterattack with +3L for the alternative 5 motes.

Illusion of Choice Removal

Cost: 3 motes
Duration: Until Next Action
Type: Simple
Keywords: Combo-Basic, Stackable
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Life Without Hope Approach

It is rare indeed to find an individual who is able to admit to themselves the flow of time and the inevitable path they are sped along to some fateful end. To such an individual, however, thought and action become as one. An action completed as the thought forms. Such an individual is a frightening opponent. Each activation of this charm in sequence further aligns the inevitable course of events and the awe-inspiring momentum of the Martial Artist. When this charm is activated add one to the Martial Artist’s DV. The Martial Artist rolls Dexterity + Martial Arts and adds the result to their next raw damage. Each time this charm is activated in sequence allows this to increase, further and further cutting away the opponent’s chance of survival. This charm may be activated over the course of several actions further adding to the raw of the attack immediately following the last invocation, however, each activation subtracts three dice from the next activation’s roll.

Nature Carving Knife

Cost: 3 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-Basic, Obvious, Shaping
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Life Without Hope Approach

The Martial Artist learns to emulate one of the more difficult traits of the numina for mortals to embrace. He learns to carve away part of his very nature and embrace, even if only temporarily, envisioned personal perfection. The disciple of the numina’s irises and pupils split giving each a venn-diagram look, his legs split from the knees down and fill out into four feet, he grows a third arm from below one of his others and claws on each hand. While this charm is active the disciple gains an extra two yards to movement, a +1 to accuracy, a +1 to awareness and does lethal with his unarmed attacks. The disciple can have one additional pox activated if his player has purchased any. Additional poxes can be switched between as a miscellaneous action. Each additional pox is purchased for 4xp or 2bp.

Setsi-Lum The Toad Idol

Cost: 2 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-OK, Obvious
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Complacency Flaying Blade

As Iurka carved away her own stillness to make the toad idol the Martial Artist asserts what they are not and what they have cast away. For a brief instant a phantom duplicate of the toad idol manifests at the disciple’s ankle and their stillness crash back down. This charm counts as the roll to escape a clinch. The Martial Artist’s action can be used normally. The Toad Idol is the Martial Artist’s stillness and it is inactive.

Menine-Li The Spider Bangle

Cost: 2 motes or 2 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-Ok
Min. Martial Arts: 4
Min. Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Illusion of Choice Removal

As Iurka carved away her uncertainty to make the spider bangle the Martial Artist asserts their own choice to do the same and for a brief instant a phantom duplicate appears at the disciple’s wrist. As the Martial Artist pushes his uncertainty furthest from himself and embraces the long path of his destiny he moves with unerring forethought aware of every consequence. The Martial Artist may fall up to (strength + Athletics)*5 yards and take no damage. Alternatively they may read the chain of consequences to the demise of their opponent, leaping off of anything including the air the Martial Artist must descend at least five yards to his target. If he does this, the Martial Artist’s Essence is added to his raw damage and to his minimum damage. This second effect cost 2 motes and one willpower.

Autumnal Torrent Form

Cost: 6 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Keywords: Form-Type, Obvious
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Complacency Flaying Blade, Illusion of Choice Removal, Nature Carving Knife

The Autumnal Torrent argues that stillness leads only to suffering as one’s opponents inevitably realize and choice leads only to pain. The disciples of Iurka attempt to learn from these truths and emulating the self perfected being, Iurka the Autumnal Torrent: for nothing hurts Iurka that she does not already suffer. The practitioners seek to embody the unending movement and perfect inevitability of Iurka’s existence. Those that activate this form gain +2 to their DV while moving, subtract one from the speed of all actions to a minimum of three, and gain an additional +2 to accuracy and +1 yard to movement. However, as the Autumnal Torrent suffers willingly to avoid imposition so too must the disciple suffer. While this form is active the Martial Artist’s guard action counts as a –1 DV action and the Disciple loses one Health level when the form goes down.

Dragon Kite

Cost: 2 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-OK, Obvious
Min. Martial Arts: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Autumnal Torrent Form

Freedom from restraint, unending eternal movement, self-inflicted will: these are the things the disciples of Iurka strive for. The Dragon Kite, named for their patron’s own favored attack, is their reward. While grappling or in a grapple the Martial Artist whisks their opponent a full mile into the air and allows a reflexive roll to escape the clinch if the disciple is the one being clinched. At the cost of a conviction channel Martial Artist can impose an internal penalty to the opponent’s roll equal to the disciple’s martial arts score. The resultant fall causes lethal damage and has a minimum of one level but is otherwise treated as a normal fall. The Disciple himself suffers no damage from this fall.
