The West: A Thousand Islands In The Night
As always, the West is ignored by the rest of Creation. Left to fend for themselves by the Shogunate, shattered by the Contagion, overwhelmed by the Fair Folk and barely dealt with by the Realm, the West is unlikely to play a major role in the coming conflict - in the grand scheme of things, there isn't a nation in the Direction that has recovered enough to be a major player. With a population of under thirty million people, and no industry to speak of, they may not be worth courting.
The Northwest
The most powerful region in the North is clearly the Northwest, and it is also the only region that the Sorcerer King is already paying attention to. The Coral Archipelago, traditionally neutral in the affairs of the Realm, has found the Sorcerer King lavishing them with praise and gifts, but also starting to threaten consequences should he be forced to turn his eye in their direction. For the time being Coral is hedging its bets, and their pirates avoid preying on Realm, Guild, or Kol's ships alike. Their restraint is poor news for many of their neighbours, who feel the sting of their diverted attention.
The Skullstone Archipelago sees less attention. Their master, the mysterious Bodhisattva Anointed By Dark Waters, rules the nation as a religious leader, but their attention is not primarily focused on other islands. The Realm and Kol alike are suspicious of this half-dead nation, and have allowed it to go its own way for the time being.
The Far West
Firmly in the hands of the Realm, the Far West is a nonentity. Its largest nations, Wavecrest and the Neck, are almost totally ignored as the Realm focuses on greater concerns. Its minor nations must fend for themselves against raiders, pirates, and the omnipresent threat of the Fae. There are rumours that the agents of Bagrash Kol are looking around the area, but these have been yet to be proven, and most reputable sources consider them to be nothing more than the scouting he spends on every region.
The Southwest
The Southwest, farthest region in all of Creation from Kol's dominance, has yet to see his attention drawn their way. In large part under the sway of the piratical Lintha family, the island nations of the Southwest cannot hope for much attention or support from the Realm. Instead, they turn to whomever will save them. If they represented any potential power, they would be a force that could be shaped by whomever wished - instead, they are merely people who have nothing to offer.
