Hikari the Raven, Chosen of Luna =
The young Hikari was a Cherak street rat. Her mother and father both died of a plague which spread too quickly to be contained by the mortal thaumaturges. By the time several Wood Aspect healers were called, it was too late, and she took to living on the streets. Even in the plenty of the First Age, there were still slaves and slums and those on the bottom of the social ladder, and Hikari was on the bottommost rung of them all. It would perhaps be not entirely surprising that she felt into the trap of a Yozi Cult, who offered her progressively more and more food and nights of slumber in a bed until they kidnapped her in the middle of the night and planned to offer her up as a sacrifice for possession by a Demon. She was almost rescued by Yamahashi Maenin, who burst in during the ceremony, but he needn't have worried--she Exalted as the knife was descending, and in a blaze of Raven Beastform fury, she tore the cultists to shreds.
She fell immediately in love with her dashing "savior," an emotion that would last almost undimmed for the entirety of her millennia-long life. The relationship between Maenin and Hikari was the envy of many of the other Chosen, and it was one of the reasons why Maenin had such a good reputation among the Solars. When asked why she loved him so much, Hikari would just stare off into the distance and smile. She never tried to explain it--she didn't need to. She knew what she felt, and it was enough for her to know.
Hikari was always at her mate's side, protecting him in battle, helping him devise strategies for the areas under his command, leading soldiers by his side, and aiding him in safeguarding the people of Creation. She knew all of the members of his Circle and their Lunar mates, though she socialized with them only little--usually at functions that Maenin also attended. She spent as much time as she could with Maenin, knowing that their service to the Deliberative could carry them away from each other for months at a time. There were some dark whispers that Maenin had used his powers in order to so firmly sway her emotions, but they were never taken seriously, especially after Maenin was elected Hierophant of the Solar Deliberative.
From the position of Hierophant's mate, Hikari worked with Nine Lives to bring relief to those who had slipped through the cracks of Creation's society so that no more children would have to suffer as she did. She also collated the intelligence for several of the missions that Sun's Setting and Seventh Son were sent on.
Though she worried quite a bit as Maenin's behavior became more and more corrupt, she never gave up. She was firmly convinced that it was the strain of his power that was making him so arrogant, and only when confronted with evidence from the other Lunars did she agree that something had to be done. She originally went along with the plan to stand aside at the Usurpation, but at the last second, she changed her mind. Nine Lives tried to stop her, but she ignored him and flew off towards Meru as fast as she could.
Death
The fairy tale came to an end at Meru on New Year's Day, where Hikari died trying to save Maenin from the Dragon Blooded. Because of her proximity to the defeated Solars, her Essence Shard was caught up in the spell designed to hold the Solars' Shard and placed in the Jade Prison--one of only a few Lunar Shards so caught.
