According to the official story, the Empress was a low-ranking officer in the Shogunate who saved Creation by journeying to the center of the Blessed Isle with four companions and activating the ancient First Age weaponry that defended the world from the Fair Folk. She then used that weaponry to establish her power and her rule.
The descendants of the Empress form the Scarlet Dynasty, the 13 Houses that are the DragonBlooded aristocracy of the Realm.
