Flawless Ninja Style

Flawless Ninja Style was developed by a night caste solar for use in her nightly espionage attempts. This style focuses on stealth, sneak attacks, and using essence to find the object of your search. This style does not use armor but allows slim swords like katanas, wakizashis, tantos, and also allows the use of bows.

Charms

Wall Walking Technique

Cost: 1 mote
Duration: one turn
Type: Simple
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA:2
Prerequisites: None

Entering a compound unseen usually requires finding an unused route. The Ninja channels essence into his finger tips and feet to form a cohesive grip to any surface. Using this charm allows the user to climb walls like a spider at his normal movement rate.

Ninja’s Supple Evasion

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA: 2
Prerequisites: Wall Walking Technique

Sometimes, even after the most careful planning a Ninja is surprised by a guard’s attack. Using essence to slow down time this charm gives the Ninja a reflexive dodge equal to his full dodge pool + MA.

Unseen Ninja Technique

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: scene
Type: Simple
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA: 2
Prerequisites: Ninja’s Supple Evasion

A ninja not only moves silently hiding in the shadows but makes his presence less noteworthy to the minds of others. Focusing essence into invisible streamers that invade the target's sensory section of the brain this charm adds the user’s permanent essence score to the difficulty of noticing him.

Guard Distracting Gesture

Cost: 2 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA: 2
Prerequisites: Wall Walking Technique

When a Ninja is confronted with a guarded door he should not always resort to combat. Sometimes it is better to distract the guard from his post. This charm allows the user to make the guard hear or see something so he believes there is someone or something in a direction described by the Ninja. This is represented by a contested manipulation + larceny roll vs. the target’s willpower.

Ninja’s Quiet Strike

Cost: 4 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA: 3
Prerequisites: Guard Distracting Gesture

A Ninja strikes from the shadows quietly and deadly. Wrapping deadly swirls of black and dark blue essence around his weapon the Ninja then strikes from the shadows. If the Ninja rolls a successful stealth check before engaging this charm then he gets an attack on the guard with the penalty of being ambushed plus you may add the successes the Ninja got on his stealth check as extra dice on the attack.

Flawless Ninja Form

Cost: 6 motes
Duration: Scene
Type: Simple
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA:4
Prerequisites: Ninja’s Quiet Strike, Unseen Ninja Technique

The Flawless Ninja is an opponent to be feared, they are unseen as often as not and their attacks seem to come from no where and are usually a surprise even when fighting him face to face. This form style adds the Ninja’s MA to stealth, attack, difficulty to hit, and he may always default to a reflexive cascading dodge. This is a form charm and not compatible with other form charms unless specifically noted in that forms notes (prismatic arrangement of creation style for instance).

Ninja Vanish

Cost: 3 motes/ per success
Duration: Scene
Type: Reflexive
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA: 4
Prerequisites: Flawless Ninja Form

A ninja must sometimes vanish from plain sight to evade detection. This charm allows the ninja to buy a number of automatic successes on a stealth roll up to his essence score. These automatic successes subtract from his stealth pool. The Ninja may move at half her movement rate using this charm. Ex. Shadow Leaping over Water hears a troop of guards rounding a corner into the room she is in. She currently has a stealth pool of 8. She spends 9 motes for 3 successes and she can now roll the other 5 dice to try and improve her success at hiding in plain sight.

Ninja’s Deadly First Strike

Cost: 5 Motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Min. Essence: 3
Min. MA: 5
Prerequisites: Flawless Ninja Form

Most of the time a Ninja must strike first and with finality to secure the secrecy of his mission. Providing that the ninja has hidden himself properly this charm can be excruciatingly deadly. Activating this charm adds the successes on his previous stealth roll and his MA rating to his attack. The Ninja may use this charm if discovered but it only grants the bonus from his MA rating because he is no longer using the element of surprise.

Locating the Hidden Target Method

Cost: 4 Motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Essence: 4
Min. MA: 5
Prerequisites: Ninja Vanish

Infiltration is only one third of the mission. One of the other parts is locating the person or thing you are meant to retrieve or destroy. This charm allows the user to make an awareness check while meditating inside the building where he believes his target to be. If successful the Ninja has a mental picture of a rough path to his target. The higher the success on the awareness check, the better the path. This charm only works on one building, if the target is not there he will no with certainty if the awareness check succeeds.

Ninja’s Assassination Approach

Cost: 8 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Min. Essence: 4
Min. MA: 5
Prerequisites: Ninja’s Deadly First Strike

A Ninja’s assassination skills are unparalleled. This charm improves even that of an “average” Ninja. Engaging a quick kata with sweeping arcs of dark essence the ninja makes his strike inherently deadly. If Ninja is in stealth mode he adds his successes and his essence to damage and gains a number of automatic successes to attack equal to his MA rating.

Invisible Predator Technique

Cost: 9 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Scene
Type: Simple
Min. Essence: 5
Min. MA: 5
Prerequisites: Ninja’s Assassination Approach, and Locating the Hidden Target Method

The final part of a mission is escape. A Ninja using this charm literally vanishes from sight and becomes truly invisible. Activating this charm adds the Ninja’s essence to his stealth and athletics in automatic successes and may move at full movement rates even though he is running because he is invisible. This charm is negated if he is struck or makes a violent action such as an attack.

Comments

Question on the form charm, is the dodge in addition to your normal action, it seems a bit powerful, it should be MA 4 at least and might be too much having 2 strong defenses in the form. - Blackedout

No the dodge would replace all actions the character was taking that turn (Like Mantis form allows a cascading parry) That is why I didn't think it too powerful~ Insanewizard

Ok, I would note that under PC it gets the same bonus and still think that it should require MA 4 for it but I guess it is just a strong defensivly form, im not saying the bonuses don't make sense but they are pretty significant bonuses. - Blackedout

I just changed the MA prereq to 4. I thank you for the constructive input. ~ Insanewizard

In the same area of prerequisites I think that by Ninjas Deadly First Strike it should hit MA 5 and stay there for the rest of the style, virtually all Martial Arts styles require a skill of 5 in the post-form styles. - Blackedout

Ok got it. Changed them to MA 5. Now this is what I need. Some guidelines to how to judge minimums and essence costs. Do you know of anything someone wrote up Blackedout? ~ Insanewizard
