Defying convention, this page proposes nothing new for Solar Resistance. Instead, it's a forum that I hope to get some ideas from. In particular, I adore the charm "Adamant Skin Technique". I love stunting with it, I love using it, and I love having it. Plus, the pre-reqs can be fun too, especially in 2E.

Having said that, I'm looking for more. There's no canonical path (that I'm aware of) leading upward from AST. I'm fishing for ideas on what such a charm would be, and how it might be used. Nothing extravagant - I don't need you to give me mote costs, and total crunch, but I'd like some ideas. I'm volunteering to crunch them, write them up here, and thus provide some higher-tier resistance charms. Thus, I'm looking for things like this:

GreenLantern's Idea #1

AST, while powerful, has a number of less-than-awesome things about it. For example, it doesn't stop 'attached' effects, such as those that merely require a successful attack (but not successful damage). Thus, one more powerful version would be "Aegis of Will" at Essence 5, channeling essence a fraction of an inch outside of the Solar's frame, totally protecting from a single attack, including supplemental effects.

GreenLantern's Idea #2

Another of AST's problems is that it must be activated before the damage roll, not after. Having the ability to activate after would give a significant tactical advantage, especially in regards to mote-efficiency and charm usage. Thus, I propose "Orichalcum Flesh Transubstantiation", activated after the damage roll. Harmonizing his flesh with the favored magical material, the character, for an instant, becomes as impervious to damage as the greatest of the 5MM.

GreenLantern's Idea #3

AST, while wonderful, isn't a panacea against damage. In particular, it should more rightfully be called Temporarily Adamant Skin Technique, in that it's great against single impacts, but not so much great against long-lasting sources of damage. A more powerful version would find a way around this, either ignoring a single source of damage (such as a given weapon) or last longer, keeping the skin hard for long periods of time, such as 'until next DV refresh' or 'for the remainder of the tick'. The latter are extremely dangerous, in that it would be fairly easy to stay immune to damage for long periods, giving you an extreme advantage. The former, stopping only a single source of damage, seems a lot more fun, as the opponent could easily switch up weapon-tactics, yet the charm would be great against environmental damage - something that appeals to me. Thus, I propose "Declaration of the Body Inviolate", which gives a hardness of infinity against a single source of damage. Scene-long, the source of damage must be clearly defined at the time the charm is activated. The character may only declare one such source of damage at a time, and the charm must be re-activated to change the source. Things such as 'metal' are far too vague - the character must be specific in his declaration, with possible ideas of "That Sidereal's Daiklave", "Lava", "The bare hands of that Martial Artist", et cetera. To prevent 'real' problems, this is a simple charm as well. Combo-Basic, I'd think.

GreenLantern's Idea #4

In a similar argument as Idea #3, this idea discusses the temporary problem of AST, and extends it with the 2E "Iron Skin Concentration". Remembering the Lawgiver's place in society, this charm exemplifies their station above all others, giving them bonuses to defense by any of 'lower station'. When any being attempts to harm the Solar, the Solar may roll her (Essence) against a difficulty of the Attacker's (Essence). If successful, the Solar may ignore the attack. Environmental effects may be ignored using this charm as well, however the difficulty of the roll is based on the Essence of the god associated with that environmental effect, and thus, may be much higher than the Solar might expect, especially when traveling in regions of notoriety or import.

Your idea here!

Other Themes

Other than just AST, there are some other quite nice Resistance charms, such as "Immunity to Everything Technique". Personally, I'd imagine that there's a charm, just above it, along the lines of "Illness-Ignoring Strength", a permanent charm that forever makes the Exalt immune to natural illness, of any sort. It's companion charm "Poison-Ignoring Strength" does the same for non-magical poisons of any sort. Non-magical poisons are those made only of mundane ingredients, or able to be found in nature without the assistance of a being of Essence 2 or higher. Thus, such a Solar could drink mercury, rub himself down with arrow-frogs, and then proceed to inject as much opiate as he'd like, without effect. However, even the use of a simple Terrestrial charm, such as those often employed by Wood-aspected Terrestrials, would render the Solar vulnerable.

I have A load Of restance ideas which you would lie (they are along the above lines. I will Write them during the holiday - Azurelight
