Defensive Charms

Ground-Denying Defense (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 2/2; Combo-OK; For 2m/opponent, the Lunar may reduce the number of opponents that may attack her, to a maximum of (Dexterity) opponents affected. This cannot reduce the number of available attackers below 1. This does not grant any opponent a “shot at her back.” [Prereq.: Any Dex Ex.]
Wary Swallow Method (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 3/2; Combo-OK; Once per tick, the Lunar may spend 2m to ignore all penalties to her Parry DV. [Prereq.: Any Dex Ex.]
Feline Guard Technique (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 4/2; Combo-OK; For 4m, the Lunar adds (her Dexterity) to her (Dexterity + [Melee or Martial Arts]) pool to determine her Parry DV until her next action. She does not gain this bonus against unexpected attacks. [Prereq.: Wary Swallow Method.]
Den Mother Method (Dex)
Permanent; 4/3; Combo-OK; The Lunar may extend the benefits of Wary Swallow Method to an ally within (Essence) yards – the ally uses the Lunar’s Parry DV if it is higher than his own.
Crouching Tiger Stance (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 4/2; Combo-OK, Counterattack; By spending 4m, the Lunar adds (her Essence) to her Parry DV against an attack. If she successfully parries the attack (the attack does not hit), she may make a hand-to-hand counterattack during Step 9 of attack resolution at the usual –1 DV penalty. [Prereq.: Feline Guard Technique.]
Bowing Reed Technique (Dex)
Supplemental; 3/2; Combo-OK; When declaring a Guard action, the Lunar may spend 4m to ignore all Onslaught and Coordinated Attack penalties to her DV until the Guard action ends. [Prereq.: None.]
Wind-Dancing Method (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 9); 4/2; Combo-OK, Counterattack, Obvious; After dodging an attack, successfully or not, the Lunar may spend 4m to move up to 8 yards in any direction, including into the air. Using this Charm inflicts –1 DV, as per normal rules for counterattacks. [Prereq.: Bowing Reed Technique.]
Serpent Eye Defense (Cha)
Reflexive (Step 2); 3/2; Combo-OK, Obvious; For 4m, the Lunar may add (her Charisma) to her (Dexterity + Dodge) pool to determine her Dodge DV against an opponent within (Perception) x5 yards. An opponent who is blind or has previously declared that he is refusing to look at the Lunar (rending them effectively blind to her) may ignore this bonus, but must deal with the usual effects of blindness. [Prereq.: Bowing Reed Technique.]
Unmoving Bear Defense (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 3/2; Combo-OK; By spending 2m, the Lunar may dodge in situations where she cannot give ground and adds one-half (Essence) to Dodge DV, which counts as (Essence) dice from a Charm for dice caps. [Prereq.: Bowing Reed Technique.]
Foot-Trapping Counter (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 9); 3/2; Combo-OK; When an opponent within (Essence) yards attempts to move away from you or use a hopping defense to retreat, you may spend 2m to force the opponent to make a (Dexterity + Athletics) roll, difficulty of (your Dexterity), to be able to move. If the roll fails, they cannot flee. [Prereq.: Unmoving Bear Defense.]
Flowing Body Evasion (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 5/3; Combo-OK, Counterattack; Once per action, when targeted by an attack (even an undodgeable one), may spend 6m, 1wp to roll (Dexterity + Dodge). If successful, the attack is dodged perfectly and the Lunar may move up to (Essence x2) yards away (this happens in Step 9 as a counterattack, but does not inflict a DV penalty). This Charm cannot be used in a Combo with Charms that purchase successes or convert dice into successes. [Prereq.: Unmoving Bear Defense.]
Pack-Saving Method (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 4/3; Combo-OK; For 3m, the Lunar may redirect an attack aimed at an ally within (her Essence) yards to herself instead. The cost is only 2m if the ally is a target of the Lunar’s Brotherhood of the Lake and River Charm. [Prereq.: Unmoving Bear Defense.]
Snake-Body Technique (Dex)
Reflexive (Step 2); 3/2; Combo-OK, Counterattack; For 5m, the Lunar applies her full Dodge DV against a hand-to-hand attack, ignoring all penalties. If the attack fails, it is applied to the original attacker as a Step 9 counterattack that inflicts no DV penalties on the Lunar. For 2m more during Step 9, the attack may instead be redirected to any target within the original attacker’s range. [Prereq.: Unmoving Bear Defense.]
Armor-Forming Technique (Sta)
Reflexive (Step 7); 2/1; Combo-OK, Obvious; For 1m/+2 soak, the Lunar may increase her natural lethal and bashing soak for a scene, to a maximum of (Stamina) motes. [Prereq.: Any Sta Ex.]
Limb-Shielding Growth (Sta)
Reflexive (Step 2); 3/2; Combo-OK, Obvious; For 3m, the Lunar grows a target shield on her off-hand for a scene, which has neither fatigue nor mobility penalties, but does inflict a –1 external penalty to any attacks made with that hand. [Prereq.: Armor-Forming Technique.]
Scales of the Dragon (Sta)
Simple; 4/3; Combo-Basic, Obvious; For 3m, 1wp, the Lunar may create moonsilver armor around herself for a scene, gaining +9L/+9B soak and Hardness 9, with a –1 fatigue penalty. This Charm is incompatible with armor. [Prereq.: Armor-Forming Technique.]
Invulnerable Moonsilver Carapace (Sta)
Permanent; 5/4; No Keys; By increasing the cost of Scales of the Dragon to 8m, 1wp, the Lunar may increase the armor’s protection to +15L, +15B and Hardness 15, with no fatigue or mobility penalties. [Prereq.: Scales of the Dragon, Limb-Shielding Growth.]
Hide-Toughening Essence (Sta)
Reflexive (Step 8); 4/2; Combo-OK; For 1m, 1wp, reduce the number of damage dice rolled by an attacker by half after soak. [Prereq.: Armor-Forming Technique.]
