Something that grew out of an NPC that didn't get killed when I expected him to. The Ebon Dragon stands for oblivion and all things gribbly right? The Maiden of Endings stands for death, the Maiden of Journeys for birth and beginnings...So what is there between death and birth? Where is the Archetype for Rebirth and the Cycle of life and death?
The conversation led round in circles for a while and the game progressed to the point where said NPC (Originally an Abyssal) began to stand more for natural death rather than the eternal undeath which most of his kind seem to enjoy. To cut a long story short (because to do otherwise requires me typing out the greater part of the game background and confusing the hell out of everyone with many many Michael Moorcock references) Moramon (the NPC) finally took his throne as the true Dragon of Death.
Now, we thought what about his Chosen? The Abyssals are already covered but this is a neat idea, where do we go with it? Where we went was something that came to be known as the Ephemeral Exalted, they follow the same Caste structure as the Solars and Abyssals but their power is mainly new, there are a few rescued Exaltations that have been swiped from the grasp of the Death Lords but in general he is seeking out worthy bearers and imbuing them with a shard of his power. This has created another major war in the Heavens and Malfeas, Moramon and the Ebon Dragon battle for supremacy; Moramon has brought things to a stalemate and now neither will give nor gain an inch. The outcome must be decided by the fate of Creation, should the Deathlords continue to grow in power, should the Scarlet Empress return to the Throne of the Realm with the spark of the Infernal within her, these things can only strengthen the grip of the Ebon Dragon and slowly begin to doom Creation to Oblivion.
((To be updated shortly when I find my notes on their anima powers etc!))
