Terrestrial Circle Sorcery

Perimeter of Elemental Might
Cost: 15 motes.
Duration: Sorcerer's Essence in hours.

The Sorcerer collects essence in her palm, and places it upon the ground, twin ripples travelling along up to a distance apart of the Sorcerer's Essence*10 yards. In between these two points, a wall rises, made out of one of the five elements, each with different effects. The wall is always 2 feet thick, and up to the Sorcerer's Essence*2 high in yards. The wall begins forming once the spell is cast, but does not actually spring up properly until the next round. The wall may be any shape, but it may not meet back except at it's ends, and it may not exceed it's length restriction.

Earth: This wall is made of the hardest stone, magically reinforced, and has a soak of 16L and 24B, and hardness of 6L and 10B.

Water: Jutting up from the earth in series of crystalline shards of ice, this wall maintains a liquid consistency, swirling about in the air until something tries to pass through it. Individuals making their way through the wall find it solidifying around them, and they must pass a Strength+Athletics test at a difficulty equal to the Sorcerer's Essence to break through, or they will become trapped.

Fire: Taking the form of a blazing wall of the hottest flames, you can step through this wall, but doing so will deal 6L damage, soakable only by natural soak, every time anyone passes through. Passing a difficulty 4 Stamina+Resistance check reduces this damage to 1L. Wooden missiles fired through this wall are incinerated, and wooden items carried may suffer similar treatment if not protected.

Wood: A trellis of thick vines rises, which grasps at enemies who come near, trying to catch and hold them. The trellis counts as a creature that attacks any enemy who comes within a yard of it with a clinch attack, at an accuracy of +2. If it succeeds at maintaining the clinch, it will attempt to deal damage each turn. The trellis has 3 Health Levels, a -0, a -1, and a -3. It has 10B and 7L soak.

Air: A barrier of gale force winds buffet and repel those who come near. Enemies who try to press through the wall must pass a Stamina+Resistance check against a difficulty of the Sorcerer's Essence. If they pass, they may move through at half speed. If they fail, they are knocked back a number of yards equal to the Sorcerer's Essence*3. Projectiles fired through the winds lose the Sorcerer's Essence in successes.

Comments:

(Essence) Hours in duration, cost 15m? Air could be, diff Essence knockback roll, fail, and you're hurled into the air (for some falling damage), succeed, and you're knocked down, succeed twice, and you press on through with only your hair in your eyes etc.

There should be a provision about not being able to use this as an attack. Maybe when the spell takes effect, the wall takes X ticks to actually spring up, giving everyone suitable time to get the hell out of the way - either inside or outside as they like.

I agree - Also, for water, have it liquid, but whenever anything touches it, it hardens instantly into solid ice, potentially freezing the interloper in place, but also being rather hard to cross through. Any attacks that cause just damage will be pointless, as the ice will break, melt instantly, and flow back into place as water, ready to freeze again ^_^

Maybe ignoring any attack that doesn't completely flatten it in one blow? I didn't think Exalted had a such thing as a "perfect soak"...
-- Veav

It does. Perfect soak cannot be reduced by any means. It can also refer to charms which just soak all of the damage, no matter how much or what type. Also, wood is very weak. 3HLS to break a hole is too easy, especially with that terrible soak. I also think the 'power' of air needs to be upped a bit, since these need to be comparable, and at present an earth wall does the job of blocking so much better. Air should probably impose an (Essence) penalty on missiles passing through it, while Fire should burn wooden missiles.
