Angelo's life, more so than usual, has been dictated by his family. He always despised his father, an Immaculate bootlicker, as close to a groupie as the Order gets. While his father did chores and took abuse from the local monks, his mother, whom he loved dearly, worked to help her neighborhood, sort of like a neighborhood leader. She helped feed the poor, shelter the homeless, and curb the worst of the Realm abuses. She was well-respected by the commoners and even the Autocrat admired her, although many times they were at odds with one another. She earned her respect and admiration even as her worthless husband hid from the invasion of the Mask of Winters like a coward. When the gates were brought down and the sacking began, she was instrumental in leading organized civilian resistance against the deathknights. After her capture in a public square by the formidable deathknight known as the Purveyor of Tortured Souls, she refused to sell out her companions in exchange for her life. Angelo, from a nearby alleyway, watched as his mother was ripped apart by the Abyssal's ruthless interrogation charms. As she lay dying, her bones ripped from her flesh, Angelo had had enough. He charged the deathknight. The Purveyor, amused but quickly bored, decided to let his skeletal honor guard finish the boy as he went about more important business. The honor guard didn't have a chance for Angelo was now one of the Zenith caste. After he slew the undead, he fled in the chaos. However, his worthless father soon found him and as he saw him for what he was, he denounced him as an anathema and disowned him. Angelo, angry and confused, was forced to flee the city, and everything he ever knew.
As he wandered the countryside, it wasn't long before Angelo was discovered by a band of Lookshy operatives and Thorns expatriates called the Raiment. It's organizer was a Lookshy officer named Karal Zakim who immediately saw in Angelo an opportunity. He took the boy in and, with the permission of the Lookshy General Staff, educated the boy in the arts of war and leading men. He also taught the boy self-defense and learned he was a formidable Snake stylist. Finally, he handed control of the Raiment over to Angelo, with the purpose of thwarting the Mask of Winters at every possible angle.
It was in this capacity that Angelo, leader of the circle, met his kindred companions. An attack on a slave caravan Toan was negotiating with led to a brief rivalry and a fast friendship with the Eclipse. His dealings with the Marhuel Ranch near Celeren was how he met Makaren. He not only got superior horses at a good price, but a potent Twilight and Dawn as well. When the Guild decided to dispatch Angelo for his anti-slave raids near Thorns via Night caste assassin Lily, they had no idea that the two were once old allies in the First Age and that they would resume that alliance in the Second Age.
Although he still appears to be a child, he's actually in his mid-twenties and his eyes have an aged, determined cast about them that is unnerving for many. His charisma has led to many successess but has made him numerous enemies along the way. And always, he remembers the title of the deathknight who took away his mother, whom he strives to emulate. He remembers, and he plans, and he waits. Vengeance WILL be his.
