The Safehole

Arranged by a paranoid Dynast with more concerns than resources, the Safehole is a minor hideaway secreted on the back end of a Dynastic estate several miles north of Arjuf. Currently, it is in the possession of a member of House Ragara, who never seriously intends to use it but considers it an adequate location to store some of his minor treasures.

The safehole itself is buried beneath the ground, sprawling across the estate in a small network of slightly cramped tunnels with a few rooms in its centre. The tunnels criss-cross and contain numerous hidden passages, but are made of rough-hewn stone with little decoration; the central rooms contain a map of the tunnels in small-relief, on which tiny lights show the progress of anyone entering the manse. The manse's Hearthstone hides in a small compartment under the manse.

All in all, the safehole is not particularly impressive, and any enemy capable of causing serious concern to a Dynast would be unlikely to be deterred by it. However, it could serve as a useful place for Dynastic families to hide in the event of peasant revolts, something that it has been used for twice in its history.

Game Mechanics

Manse Level 1
Drawbacks: Habitability 1 (The manse is sheltered from the elements, but otherwise behaves as a series of carved tunnels rather than a possible home)

Powers:

  • Pasiap's Buried Whispers (1 pt): From inside the Manse, an attuned character can watch the progess of anyone in the Manse or up to 100 yards away from it, making it easy to plot an escape.
  • Hidden Passages (2 pts): The passages of the manse are difficult to travel, and are filled with hidden doors.

The safehole produces the Stone of Stillness; as long as its wearer is not moving, anyone looking for him suffers a -2 external penalty to their Awareness or Investigation rolls.
