Enfield

The capital of Sreneca, Enfield is a quite large city, although to the players it is nearly completely unexplored.

The Great Harbour

Enfield's first notable feature is its harbour, nearly unique. It is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, produced in the shogunate. The harbour wall leading down to the water is on a sixty degree slant, and consists of well polished and close-set slabs of stone. It is nearly seventy feet tall; loading and unloading anything from the ships below required the use of a sophisticated set of winches and pulleys that lift large platforms. The harbour is owned in large part by house V'neef, and they make some profit from the operation of it. The winch systems work with surprising efficiency; despite the enormous effort required to lift equipment up a sheer seventy foot wall, the harbour runs essentially as smoothly as any other.

There is only one point at which Enfield touches the sea, and it is at this wall; either west or east of it one finds a series of cliffs and city walls. The wall itself is almost a kilometer long. The entire harbour wall is, in fact, a massive artifact; it may be attuned to instantly by touching the stone and focusing; anyone may do it, as long as they are abl to attune and know that the wall is an artifact. Spending twenty motes while attuned covers the entire face in a thin film of ice that makes it nearly impossible to climb. To climb the wall normally is an extended dex + athletics action, difficulty 3, requiring 15 successes; when the artifact is activated, the difficulty is raised to 7. This ice is magical and will not melt if, for example, defenders of the city choose to pour oil down the face of it and set it alight. The ice will melt only when the essence used to power it is released.

The Palace

The great palace of Enfield is yet more impressive, if seen properly. It is three concentric pentagons increasing in height as they move inwards. The first pentagon, the ring of heroes, is three floors tall and houses much of the bureaucracy of the satrapy. The second ring, the ring of exalts, is four stories tall and serves as... I will come up with something. The third ring, the ring of gods, is five stories and houses the satrap and the ministers of the region; it is also the home to all of the highest ranking members of the military. In the center of the complex is the Tower of the King, a pillar of smooth stone topped with a blue crystal sphere that is the personal residence of the king. Between each of the concentric rings is a narrow courtyard; between the first and second rings is a sand garden, and between the second and third is a garden of perfectly green grass and flowerbeds. Transportation between the rings is accomplished via a plethora of arcing and graceful bridges of stone and glass, some covered and some not.
