About Javane
Her personal history
Javane was born in a coastal village, on the island of Abalone. As the daughter of the village chief, she was everything her father hadn't wished for: a strong-headed, turbulent hothead passionate about boats and the sea from her youngest age. Notwithstanding that on Wavecrest, women work the fields and may only socialize with women of their own families. She greatly preferred the company of her two brothers, Merrim and Daichi (respectively 4 years older and 4 years younger) to that of her sister Kalian (10 years younger) or any other girl.
Her mother rather tried to make her used to tilling the fields, but Javane had always refused and fled almost every day. She isolated herself on a remote beach to train at sailing with a small abandoned boat. She also started training with her harpoon. This training she started at the age of 6. Every night when she came back, her father yelled at her and Merrim mocked her. Kalian and Daichi just hid, as they were too young to take part in it. Her mother just remained silent. Worse yet; a few nights when Toma, Javane's father, had drunk a bit too much, he just beat out his frustrations on her, for good measure.
Her parents evoked the possibility of sending her to the Tya, as she was completely out of control. She always refused to hear anything, and the Tya proposition was no exception; she wanted to be a female sailor, not some male wannabe.
A few months short of being 18, she sailed the hell out on a boat with hopes of getting to the Blessed Isle. A violent storm ripped her hopes away; Javane survived but lost all her food rations and ended up passing out. She drifted for days, under the heavy rays of the Sun, and was castaway on a small island, named, as she will learn later, Dragon Roost Island. As she suddenly came back to the waking world, she found herself surrounded by a few handfuls of sex-crazed pirates in search for fresh teenage girls to rape. She resisted as much as she could, but as she started getting submerged by the dozens of men (who got to grope quite a bit), she was impregnated by the Sun's sheer power and, jumping back to her harpoon, proceeded to bloodily slaughter them one after another. She however slayed the island's chief in this process, as well as its worst sailors. Fearing and admiring her power, the island's villagers acclaimed her as their new leader. It turns out that she is a much more efficient and just leader and quickly gains the honest favor of her villagers.
She was not to settle down and remain the chief of this quiet, remote island; not when a whole new life remains to be fulfilled! She will first roam the seas with a crew of her most loyal, then realizing her island small commercial in down-to-earth commerce, she starts pillaging coastal towns, merchant boats and the like. She's never killed those who surrendered honestly, but becomes rather agressive and... bloody when it isn't the case.
With time, her life and reputation as the dreaded Eagle of the Seas are quite established. She gradually becomes protective of her people and her island and makes a contract with Shades of Moving Waters' home island, which happens not to be too far, in order to make both islands flourish. She even massacred a few Lintha ship who had attempted to pillage Dragon Roost.
At the age of 20, she sails back home on Abalone, to her parents' great sorrow; they thought her dead, but she turned out being dreaded. She however came to whisk off her little sister Kalian, who she thought would gladly follow her to a life of freedom and plunder. Her sister, however, had already been tainted by the typical life of an Abalonian, and promptly refused. In the process of leaving her home once again, she catches a stowaway who turns out being Daichi, her younger brother. She however accepts him starting on the path of the sailor and he will soon become an extremely efficient sailor, and her second in command.
As her reputation grew, so did the price on her head. Some of the sweetest bounties were on her and she ran into quite a few privateers looking for coin. She even got the Wyld Hunt sent to her, a few times, but somehow the Wyld always drove them off in numbers. A blessing as much as a curse, it would turn out, as the island would later on become the target of a powerful Fair Folk; but that is for later to describe.
Javane had docked in Arjuf in order to sell a few stolen goods when she received a request from a mysterious stranger for some odd assignment in which quite the coin was implied as payment. Thus did Isenberg's letter receive proper attention from one who would soon become one of the most important people in Creation...
