Heroes of Chaos is the name of my weekly tabletop Exalted game. Put simply, it chronicles the tales of certain special individuals, all of whom shall, knowingly or unknowingly, willingly or unwillingly, play a key role in the coming Time of Tumult. It is about larger than life heroes being thrust into impossible situations and having no choice but to fight against surmounting odds. And yet Heroes of Chaos is not themed on the inevitability of defeat, but of the glimmer of hope. It is darkest just before dawn, and these individuals represent the tiny glimmer of hope that Creation, and all who call it home, can not only be saved, but restored to it's former glory.
The stage is set for our Heroes of Chaos. On the Blessed Isle, the Dynastic Houses make ready for a bloody, internicene struggle for the Scarlet Throne. In the West, treacherous Lintha pirates and the ancient and unknowable Silver Prince loom over the horizon, casting shadows over the blood-dimmed tide. In the East, both Ma-Ha-Suchi and Mask of Winters stand at the cusp of total invasion into the Scavenger Lands, the breadbasket of Creation. In the North, the Bull of the North wages a bloody war against any who oppose him, while the Lover Clad moves through the shadows, spreading the seeds of chaos and disorder all over the land. And in the South, total war between Paragon and Gem shall serve as a fitting backdrop for the dual invasions of First and Forsaken Lion and the mysterious Alchemical Exalted. And nowhere is safe from the dreaded machinations of the Guild or the terrifying appetites of the Fair Folk.
Is it possible for these few, these so few, to take a stand and beat back the insurmountable odds? To take the fight to the enemy and win? To wipe away the bloated corpse of the Realm in favor of a wise and just replacement? Only Fate can tell, and even the vaunted prowess of the Sidereals cannot wrest this secret from her bosom...
