Artifact Bikes

by haren

This is just a rough and light system for Artifact motorcycles. Exalted are by their nature lone heroes.. often a group of heroes, but each is their own force to be reckoned with. This is designed to work with Balthasar's light system of vehicles.

Assume that an Artifact bike has an equal number of points as a vehicle of equal resources. The 5MM used in the production of the bike is for "armor" plating and a few key points like bearings and axels.

Orichalcum: This type of bike is extremely strong and seems to always end up taking the worst of any crashes or damage. Add two to the Frame of the bike and to the soak of the rider, representing the protection of the bike. This extra soak also counts against direct attacks. The bike just seems to move just right to aid it's master.

Moonsilver: These bikes have the resiliance and ability to heal like Lunars. The bike regenerates a bashing each hour and a lethal every 4 hours. This does not allow them to go without simple maintenance.

Starmetal: The bike twists fate subtly around it to let it's rider move far faster, but in great safety. The bike treats it's current speed as if it was one lower. It uses this lower speed for Response, Mobility, and Damage modifiers.

Jade: Jade bikes have a strong and powerful link to the earth they ride on and the elements above. These bikes suffer no modifiers for terrain or problematic weather affecting the roads. This does not stop penalties due to limited vision from snow, rain or fog, just keeps the bikes tires firmly on the road.

Soulsteel: This bike moans as the souls in the metal are forced to do their rider's will. They can guide the bike smoothly as the rider does other things. The rider treats the penalties for multiple actions on the bike as 2 less.

More to come, perhaps specific powers for higher Artifact bikes.

A simple one is for jade, maybe the bike can ride on any surface that is solid (including up walls and whatnot... just a stronger version of the natural jade power), on water (including over drifts of snow like it was not supporting the weight of a bike), or perhaps it races with the speed of a phoenix, flaring with fire and searing lesser bikes in it's passing or as they pass over the trails of flame it leaves.

Moonsilver might be able to alter their particulars to escape notice, reshape with their rider (gaining traits also), or even shift traits around as they go from a fast street bike, to a burly hog.

Comments

Actually, I think if Moonsilver didn't require minor maintainance, it'd be pretty cool - some lone wolf Lunar out there, never entering cities, riding around this freakishly chromed bike, never needing to change his oil, repair his tires, or otherwise interact with society... GregLink

To be honest, this were simple initial rules. It was designed to allow for simple and "cheaper" versions as well as better ones. I expect that would be a mildly common variation of Moonsilver. - haren
