- back to Abilities
Melee governs the use of weapons designed to be wielded in combat. For the use of improvised weapons, seeAbilities/Brawl. The melee ability is used whenever a character attacks with a weapon, or defends themselves with a weapon.
Characters who are local militia, sword smiths, gang members, barbarian raiders should consider taking this ability.
It should be noted that in Exalted there are some attacks which can parried, but not dodged, and vise versa. A variety of defenses is encouraged. Melee is used for:

- 2E caste/aspect ability for: Dawn, Dusk, Fire, Battles
- Combat
