The gazelle is a lightly built antelpoe with a light brown coat with a distinctive wide black stripe running along its side. White and black markings are on its head along with a white underbelly. Males grow heavily riged straight horns up to 17 inches long while females only get to 6 inches. Unlike most antelope gazelle will jump into the air, called stotting, before running from a predetor. Gazelle range across grasslands, feeding on foliage left behind by larger grazers, concentrated mainly in the Southeast.
