The Wanted flaw represents the minor kingdom he was expelled from. The noble who was also expelled went to a neighboring kingdom that had a grudge against the first one and incited a diplomatic issue that turned into a full-out war. Eventually, it settled as a stalemate, though it probably could break out again. The king mistakenly/irrationally thinks Kamenei had some hand in this, and has orders out for his arrest. In practice, though, he's having a hard enough time holding onto power as it is, and the combination of a lack of respect among many of his subjects, along with the fact that, even though he's not a known Exalt, he's still known to be a tough enough opponent that the reward for bringing him in isn't worth the effort. At worst, he would have to deal with some halfhearted attempts at arrest if he entered the kingdom and didn't keep a low enough profile.

Appearance and Demeanor

Kamenei stands at a height of about 6 feet. His frame is more naturally suited for quickness than raw power, though he has plenty of both from his time as a soldier. He doesn't have the musclebound look that many with his power would have, but it's obvious that he's strong, just the same. He's a bit removed from his days as a soldier, but still appears to be fit. Besides that, he has an imposing, handsome appearance of the sort that would serve anyone well to have, with dark brown hair long enough to be stylishly unkempt, and green eyes that could switch from gentle to piercing in an instant. When traveling, he tends to wear sturdy clothes that don't stand out too much... grays, blues, browns, greens are favored. Usually, this has a blue or gray coat over it, complete with a decent number of pockets, often with things in them.

Of late, he's been somewhat grumpy and withdrawn when it comes to social interactions, which is an occasional difficulty. It's softened by experience in court and dealing with merchants, but it's still bad enough that people who used to know him well would definitely think to themselves that they remembered him being a bit... friendlier.

Background

Formerly an officer with a notable mercenary company, Kamenei Damora was one of the most talented officers among them: skilled in combat, with a sharp mind for battle and many of the other talents that a soldier benefits from. He was, back then, known enough to be feared, as he and any unit he led always acquitted themselves well in battle. However, as he fought in conflict after conflict, the number of deaths he caused began to weigh on him. After a particularly bloody battle, his tolerance for killing was spent, and he resigned his position. With little idea of what to do with himself.

Needing to do something to earn a living, he traded on his fame and skill with a blade to earn a living as a swordsmanship instructor to the children of aristocrats and royals in the Hundred Kingdoms. While he did that, he took advantage of what resources his patrons had to find something to take an interest in besides bladework and warfare, and found that he was quite interested in certain esoteric scholarly topics. He used the resources and occasional favors he picked up to acquire texts the libraries of his various patrons didn't have, and so ended up becoming very well educated, and versed in the occult.

Of course, no life goes without inconveniences. And so it was that, one day, a few months after moving to guest at another royal's court, that the prince he was instructing had a very "might makes right" approach to life, and attempted to do something very untoward to a local noble's daughter. Fortunately for her, he hadn't learned his lessons well enough to be anywhere near a match for the guards that quickly came to interfere. Indeed, he ended up maimed for putting up a little too much resistance.

Unfortunately, this didn't help matters for anyone in the court, including Kamenei. Though not directly involved in the incident, the king was less than rational, and blamed him for "not instructing my son well enough to fight off his attackers". This escalated greatly, and hit a breaking point in public, where the king was incited to the point of outright fury by some disparaging remarks Kamenei and the nearly victimized girl's father had regarding the character of the royal line. The king lost face from the incident, and expelled both of them from the court.

Deciding that he'd had more than enough of court intrigue for a long while, Kamenei headed off to be a true wanderer, and ended up off the maps as far as the Hundred Kingdoms were concerned. After a few months, he found a remote cave complex, and decided to explore it. Amazingly, possibly more through luck than anything else, he found a secret passage, and slipped through it to end up in what appeared to be an abandoned but comfortable home. He looked around more, and found what appeared to be a library a few levels below. Curious, he looked around some, and found some alchemy texts that, on examination, he did not fully understand.

Frustrated, he read the texts over and over, obsessing over them. They were the very things he'd become interested in, wanted to make with his own hands, and the ability to do so stood just outside his reach. He closed the book, but then, felt... something, he didn't know what, telling him that giving up now would be inexcusable. And so, he opened the book one more time, and found that he understood the contents. And at that point, a change came over him, as he thought of the things he might learn, and then...

Other Notes

First major contact is an antiquarian, who specializes in rare texts and can probably help procure some less common stuff, few to no questions asked. Other stuff in the field might be possible, but less likely. Second major contact runs a shipping interest. Kamenei has some minor investment in them, and will sometimes be able to acquire unusual goods through them (including alchemical ingredients, whether or not they're strictly necessary), though it could understandably take a while.
