Restless Shade Style

by CrownedSun

Type: Celestial

The second style of the Trinity of the Abyss, emerging from the savage and hungry power of the Hungry Ghost Style, the root of the Restless Shade style is the unwavering endurance and obsession of the Restless Dead. Stylists are often known for their legendary patience, iron-hard will, and the unshakable convictions that drive them -- few foes can be as dogged as a disciple of this style. The core philosophies of this style were first set out in Meditations on the Higher Soul, a careful work of martial philosophy and elaborate katas penned by an unknown hand. For quite some time, lesser schools of this style were practiced in Stygia and throughout the Underworld -- though recently, with the emergence of the Abyssal Exalted, higher secrets of the style have been unveiled and it is only a matter of time before a true master of the Style emerges...

Restless Shade Stylists typically undergo long and repetitive training through the use of katas and seemingly meaningless lessons that hold hidden lessons, and often spend months or years before truly beginning to understand the secrets of the style. Even after one begins to master the style, many continue to ape and find comfort in the familiar katas.

some charm ideas
Pre-Form Charms

  • a basic "kata" charm; not sure on the effect yet. probably not directly combat focused.
    • passion type charm, letting you more freely use virtues in combat? motes instead of willpower?
    • ghost-devil type charm, of some nature. it lets you adopt some natural weaponry, and some light armor.

Form Charm

  • adopt the distant, coldly passionate, obsessive mien of the restless dead. effects??

Post Form Charms

  • A charm that subtracts successes from a damage roll, not dissimilar to Yielding Spirit Form.
    • a 'second wind' type charm, for emulating a ghost reforming. basically an expensive 'healing' charm...
  • MA-based parry adder, perhaps with some nifty extra added on as well:D
    • a 'puppetry' type charm; someone attacks you, and you intercept the attack -- grabbing his hand, and using it to punch someone else.
  • gain some motes from the ambient prayers offered to the dead, or something similar?? maybe a permanent charm?
    • "tearing the tangled web"; if used on ghosts, this one destroys fetter-connections. against mortals??

Ultimate Charm

      • defend against multiple attacks as if they were one attack!:D
