Cragsoth's Hearth is a volcano manse, built in secret at the bottom of Cragsoth's volcano on the largest Wavecrest island. It occupies one wall of his caldera, narrowing from a wide unroofed hall at the lip of the caldera to a single chamber at the very bottom; this last chamber--the hearthroom--is actually submerged in the lava. Its halls, made alternately of craggy basalt and gleaming, finely worked obsidian, are an intricate maze of occult mirrors that focus even the barest hint of sunlight all the way down to the bottom. The hearthroom is actually the smelting chamber for an atelier-forge capable of churning anything from swords to tin mugs to, most importantly, orichalcum and the other forged magical materials. | Cragsoth's Hearth is a volcano manse, built in secret at the bottom of Cragsoth's volcano on the largest Wavecrest island.
The freshly made orichalcum not dedicated for sacrifice flows up through inner conduits and congeals into roof tiles roughly the same volume as a swallow, ready for absorption and transport by flights of rapture chelines.
Mechanics
Fire Manse •••• (8 Creation Points)
Flaws:
- Maintenance 3 (-3 pts). The manse requires at least one person (more is better) to perform a simple ritual to Cragsoth every day, ending it with the sacrifice of a small quantity of orichalcum (5% of the atelier's full-capacity output). Also, great care must be taken not to break the beams of light once they've been focused through the mirrors... and not only because the more powerful ones are likely to sear away one's flesh.
Features:
- Atelier-Manse (4 pts). The manse is aligned with Craft (Fire). It is also capable of distilling orichalcum and forging starmetal and soulsteel. It's best suited to orichalcum, though, for obvious mirror-maze-shaped reasons.
- Greater Veil of Shadows (4 pts). Despite the fact that it takes up half the caldera's lip and should be visible across the island, the manse is completely imperceptible to all unattuned persons until they literally trip over it.
- Comfort Zone x2 (2 pts). Stepping into the manse renders one immune to ambient heat and flame. You can walk into the incandescently-hot forge chamber and stick your hand into a font of molten orichalcum without the slightest discomfort.
- Magical Conveniences (1 pt; 4 conveniences). TBA.
