Kiuna's Obsession
In the frozen north, on the eastern edge of the Haslanti League, there lies a quiet valley that no one enters, atop a treacherous mountain. The valley itself is cold and frequently dark, shadowed by the mountains around it and chilled by the wind that passes through. No one visits the mountain, and it has no name or god. And no one knows that the mountain is the home of one of the most-wanted Manses in Creation: Kiuna's Obsession.
Kiuna Seven-Words was a very young Lunar when the First Age ended; she was devoted to her Solar mate and was devastated when he died at the hands of a Sidereal uprising. The subsequent centuries of hiding in the Wyld pushed her to the edge of sanity, and she vowed that she would build a monument that would teach anyone of the treacherous nature of the Sidereals, and why they must be destroyed. Kiuna spent many dangerous years gathering information on her betrayers, and mastering the art of Manse construction and sorcery, until she was prepared - and then she built her masterpiece, a Manse that could never be found and that would hold all the lore she had gathered. She claimed that the Manse had a mechanism that would lead those who needed it to its location, but did not elaborate. Unfortunately, Kiuna died during the Great Contagion, and the secret of the Manse's location died with her.
The Obsession is actually built out the very rock of the nameless valley; its entrance is invisible until one walks around a rock and finds themselves on a sloping pathway, rather than the flat surface they expected. It is three stories tall, the wind whistling around the glassy windows, each story pleasantly warm and with the soft sound of music around it, a perfect hiding place from the eyes of the sky. The Hearthstone chamber lies on the middle level, in the perfect centre of the Manse; it takes the shape of a statue of a Solar and Lunar, their arms entwined - Kiuna and her mate. The Hearthstone itself is held between their hands.
Game Effects
Level 5 Air-Aspected Manse
Drawbacks: Hearthstone 4
Powers:
Comfort Zone (1 pt): Despite its location in the frozen North, it is always pleasant and dry within the Obsession.
Mela's Sweet Whisper (1 pt): The Manse is capable of responding to simple queries, as well as assisting in research. Its voice is soft and musical, like a gently piping flute.
Archive (2 pts): Everything that Kiuna could find about the Sidereals, she stored safely in her manse. In addition to simple books, the knowledge that she sought is woven into the very walls, through songlines; the Manse will provide it to any owner who asks. The Archives provides the following specialties: Lore (Sidereals, Yu-Shan), Occult (Sidereals, Gods), and Crafts: Fate (Hiding From Destiny).
Geomantic Subtlety (2 pts): The Obsession is all but invisible to outside senses; even the geomancy of the place is subtle and confused. This power is slightly different from the standard; it applies a -3 external penalty to any geomancy used to locate the Manse, and any roll to trace places of power towards it.
Greater Veil of Shadows (4 pts): The Obsession cannot be detected by mundane means; only advanced geomantic rituals reveal that there is a manse present at all. Kiuna went to great lengths to conceal her fortress from the prying eyes of Heaven.
Outside Fate (4 pts): The demons that Kiuna summoned to help her construct her Manse allowed her to move its destiny into the space between worlds, effectively removing it from fate. The Manse's location is thus hidden from the Sidereals.
The Obsession holds a Level 1 Hearthstone - the Gemstone of True Fate. The bearer of this Hearthstone is immune to Arcane Fate; she automatically succeeds at rolls to remember Sidereals for as long as she holds the Hearthstone, and does not suffer the usual penalty to recognize a Sidereal in a Respledant Destiny. She also does not give Paradox to Sidereals that she recognizes.
