The martial artists of the world are often driven by honour and by desire to fight an opponent equitably and honourably. Unfortunately, their opponents do not always agree. This device aims to reconcile those realities.

The device takes the form of dozens of magical material rings, one of which fits perfectly around the each major joint of the exalt's body. Blows that strike at the martial artist deflect harmlessly off of the intricate web of invisible essence that stretch between the rings.

However, the idea of this device is not to simply defend the martial artist from all foes; he must declare one enemy at the start of combat. The armor does not protect against that enemy at all, and if the martial artist attacks any enemy but that one, the armor's protection ceases for the duration of the scene. If the armor is deactivated, it may be restarted at a cost of eight motes, and a new target may be declared. If that enemy is incapacitated or surrenders, the martial artist may declare a new target.

This armor is completely compatible with all martial arts. The artifact does not grant magical material bonuses, but if made of an inappropriate material for the exalt costs double to attune. It is incompatible with other suits of armor.
