The Realm
The plague swept through the realm without warning. The immaculate order was hardest hit, as every skilled immaculate martial artist was slain by their essence growing and tearing free. The Cloister of Wisdom and many of their powerful temples had their priests killed within hours, and are now in the center of demenses, in some case wild overlapping swirls of dozens of small demenses, twisting and writhing around each other's essence flows. There are many survivors who know immaculate martial arts as high as the form charms, but none now are masters of the forms. The legions of the various houses have lost many of their greatest champions and their most knowledgeable commanders, leaving them far less capable. The quality of savants has drastically lowered, and there are very few able to now repair warstriders and similar massive weapons.
Sorcerors everywhere died violently, and their servants were freed. Very few had the wherewithal to start to send back their demon servitors, and those that did rarely had the strength to complete the task. Across the realm, demons ran rampant. Most of the living dynastic dragonbloods turned inwards to fight them, ignoring the problems of the world at large. The heptagram was essentially destroyed by the massive numbers of demons that swarmed the weaker students as the sidereal tutors and experienced dragonbloods were killed. The heptagram is now a large level three celestial demense on a rubble-strewn island.
Chejop Kejak had been in Arjuf on business when the plague struck; it is now a level five sidereal demense, and any entering it find themselves slowly turning to threads made of light over the course of a few years.
The deliberative was relatively untouched by the plague; many of the dragonbloods had never taken the time out of their schedules of plotting and politicking to raise their essence to 4. Many of the most important members have been pulled back to lead the shattered remnants of their houses, being the oldest survivors.
Politically, the state is in complete turmoil. The heads of all of the major houses are dead, as well as the vast majority of those who would have been taking succession. House Mnemon especially was devastated, as it had more high-essence members than most of the others, and many immaculates who were killed.
House Ledaal was crippled by its large sorcerous proportion, as well as the number of demons that they had previously had under control, and Cathak lost all of its best generals.
Many of the houses have decided that in the face of this, the old divisions no longer matter. Their candidates for the Scarlet throne are dead, and the realm is collapsing under war. Ledaal, V'neef, Cathak, Mnemon, Tepet and Nellens have joined together, and have formed a new house operating out of the Imperial city. They are called Scarlet Rebirth, and running the deliberative as it was, but with their house having one unified voting block with a majority. As a result, the other houses have declared that the deliberative is dead and are barely attending, although several are considering joining the federation and others are considering starting a confederation of their own.
Controlling the eastern half of the Blessed Isle, Scarlet Rebirth is essentially running a dictatorial government operated by a dozen of the top remaining members. Their main goal is to get the Isle back in order before the spirits return.
With the death of most of the large nature spirits, the immaculates, and most of the savants able to operate the first age machinery that keeps the Blessed Isle functioning, food production collapsed. The chaos of the confused littlest gods was rampant, and weather was inconsistent at best. A famine spread across the Isle within a week, and the repercussions will persist for quite some time.
