Thoughts
Why are there so many fan created Martial Arts styles?
I think that there are so many MA styles largly because they are so evocitive. Most MA charms have flavor text that is just cooler than normal charms even if they do practically the same thing. This is perfectly fine. In fact, I am following this design idea in the lore charms I'm working on, i.e. all of them will have interesting flavor text. However, I would point out that if a charm has flavor text that is short, vauge, or non-existant, then that charm can look like anything you want it to look like. The same charm could even look different depending on who is using it.
What would Alchemical MA look like?
Iirc, I think that there was a discussion about this somewhere on here, but I had an idea so I thought I might make an MA style to showcase it and give the thinking behind it.
Anyway, based on the one canon Alchemical MA, I'm thinking that most of the styles they create are going to be similar to the firewand style; i.e. a set of charms that lets them get the most out of a particular weapon and improve it's functioning to boot.
Then it occured to me that an enterprising Alchemical might very well build an artifact and MA style together to enhance each other and unlock nifty powers and bad-ass fighting styles. An example of this would be Mikagami from Flame of Recca. He is an amazing fencer. He has a magic sword that lets him manipulate water. Both of those are useful powers, but he is also a master of a fighting style called Hyomon-Ken which lets him utilize his fencing ability and the water manipulation powers of his sword to perform powerful fighting techniques. So yeah I'm gonna be working on a MA or two that are basically useless unless one has the proper weapon but the full power of the style requires a specific artifact weapon.
