Gothic Lolita Brawl Tree
Note: If second edition rules are used, this becomes the Apostle of Reverse Cuteness Style, a Gothic Lolita natural style. The form weapons for this style are the cestus, fighting gauntlet, khatar, tiger claws, pankrator’s cestus, knive, whip and all improvised weapons. Just change the Apostle of Reverse Cuteness Charm to Apostle of Reverse Cuteness Form, and voila.

Icy Terror Clutch
- Cost: 3 motes per action
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Re-Useless
- Minimum Brawl: 2
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: None
Even if a Lolita’s squeeze isn’t very strong, for some undecipherable reason it provokes true terror in her victims, which amplifies the effect. The Gothic Lolita’s clinch deals lethal damage. In addition, she adds her Moe to the dice pools to inflict, maintain or control a clinch.
Futility of Cuteness Grip
- Cost: 5 motes
- Duration: Until released
- Type: Subtle/Mental
- Minimum Brawl: 3
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Icy Terror Clutch
Gothic Lolitas sometimes favor brash ruthlessness to subtlety or flashiness. Why bother with big attacks when she can just choke you to death? The player rolls for a standard roll adding her character’s Moe score in automatic successes to the initial roll to grab. This attack inflicts no damage. If the Lolita succeeds, she tightly – and silently – seizes her victim by the throat. He cannot breathe at all, either to inhale or to scream a warning, although he may still try to escape on his next action. However, the victim cumulatively loses one die from his Strength + Brawl/Martial Arts dice pool for every successive turn the hold is maintained. Once a victim has no dice remaining, he can no longer struggle. Incapacitated characters caught in a Futility of Cuteness Grip suffocate as through drowning. Players of victims may roll Stamina + Resistance against a difficulty of the Lolita’s Moe to hold their breath longer. Victim begin breathing immediately if released before death.
Resistance is Futile Technique
- Cost: 4 motes
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Subtle/Mental
- Minimum Brawl: 3
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Icy Terror Clutch
Gothic Lolitas always get what they want, so why bother trying to resist their lures……or their cute little (and deadly) hands? The Lolita lunges forward at her target, seizing him in an instant, making it extremely difficult to react. The Gothic Lolita makes a normal clinch or hold attack, but his target cannot dodge, he can only parry. Clinches enhanced by this Charm do only half damage, but in the case of both clinches and holds, the characters immediately have a reflexive contest to mantain the clinch or hold as though it was a subsequent round. If the defender wins, she retains her action for the round, but the actual clinch attack cannot be dodged.
The character may move up to her normal sprinting distance without penalty on the turn in which she uses this Charm, to allow the character to clinch opponents ordinarily beyond her reach. The character need not make this extended action.
Shocking Blow of Lolita Cuteness
- Cost: 1 mote
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Subtle/Mental
- Minimum Brawl: 1
- Minimum Moe: 1
- Prerequisite Charms: None
The Lolita channels her Moe through her hands to deal devastating blows. She makes her attack normally but counts extra successes twice for the purpose of determining damage. This Charm can be activated after the attack roll.
Cuteness Degradation Method
- Cost: 1 mote per 1 or 2 soak reduction
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Subtle/Mental
- Minimum Brawl: 2
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Shocking Blow of Lolita Cuteness
The Gothic Lolita only allows one form of cuteness: the cuteness of the Gothic Lolita. All others are weak, pathetic and useless……and stupid. Her attack inflicts normal damage, but the mix of her gothic Moe with a diametrically different form of cuteness reduces the target’s soak by 1 point for every mote spent, or 2 points per mote in the case of inanimate objects (it’s even easier to destroy something to which the concept of “cute” doesn’t apply). This reduction only applies to resisting the character’s one attack. Animate targets cannot have their soak reduced below their permanent Moe.
Collision of Gothic Moe
- Cost: 1 mote per 2 yards
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Subtle/Mental
- Minimum Brawl: 3
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Cuteness Degradation Method
The shock of such a……unique form of cuteness can be quite intense, and the Gothic Lolita knows how to use this to her advantage. With a normal strike or even a gentle caress, the Lolita blasts her opponent backwards two yards for every mote spent. If the victim strikes a solid object, he suffers one bashing health level of damage for every yard that he would have otherwise continued to fly. This damage is bashing unless the target collides with spikes or other lethal obstructions.
Instead of using this Charm to send enemies flying, she may also use it to strike at opponents from a distance of two yards per mote spent.
Characters cannot spend more motes powering this Charm than their Charisma + Moe.
Apostle of Reverse Cuteness
- Cost: 6 motes
- Duration: One scene
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Brawl: 4
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Collision of Gothic Moe, Futility of Cuteness Grip, Resistance is Futile Technique
The Gothic Lolita doesn’t move an inch, but that’s the point of the Charm. Her simple standing position is the only fighting stance she needs, as she has now become a paragon of Gothic Perfection and childish cuteness. Only those of strong will dare raise a hand against such a cute thing, and she becomes hard to anticipate and highly unpredictable.
For the rest of the scene, the Lolita adds her Brawl score to her initiative. Her unarmed attacks may deal bashing or lethal damage as she prefers, and she can parry lethal attacks unarmed. The soak of all opponents she attacks is reduced by her Moe. Finally, all creatures must succeed on a Willpower roll, with a difficulty of half the Loli’s Brawl score, rounded down, to attack her. If an opponent fails the roll, he may spend a point of temporary Willpower to be able to attack her anyway, but this also automatically adds a point of Limit (or whatever the creature’s equivalent is), if it has one. A botch deems the character unable to attack the Lolita for the remainder of the scene.
Moe Leech
- Cost: 2 motes
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Subtle/Mental
- Minimum Brawl: 5
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Apostle of Reverse Cuteness
Lolitas thrive on the embarrassment and humiliation of others, and they shine brighter and cuter at the expense of other people’s cuteness. So do her attacks feed on others’ Moe, shaping it to her own twisted and Gothic form of kawaii-ness. In addition to inflicting lethal damage, the Lolita regains 1 mote of Moe per point of raw damage inflicted before applying the target’s soak. However, the Gothic Lolita cannot absorb more motes of Moe from a single attack than her target’s Stamina + Moe. Moe Leech only works against living beings and Alien Princesses and, then, only if the Lolita strikes bare or cloth-covered skin. A well-described stunt is required to successfully use this Charm against an armored opponent.
I'm Your Queen
- Cost: 3 motes, 1 Willpower
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Brawl: 5
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Apostle of Reverse Cuteness
The smallest and cutest Lolita can be the nastiest dominatrix, reducing the mighty to pathetic submission. The Gothic Lolita makes an ordinary Brawl attack, but the attack does no damage. Rather, for every health level she would have inflicted, her target is at a -1 penalty to all rolls against the Gothic Lolita for the rest of the scene.
Intruder of Masochistic Dreams
- Cost: 5 motes plus 1 mote per attack die, 1 Willpower
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Brawl: 5
- Minimum Presence: 2
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Apostle of Reverse Cuteness
A Gothic Lolita ignites the darkest desires of those who witness their grandeur and regal demure. Whether her victims are poor guys with weak minds or plain perverts, she becomes the subject of their dreams……and nightmares.
The Lolita makes a Brawl attack, adding an extra die for every addtional mote spent after the fifth (she cannot spend more motes on extra attack dice than her Dexterity + Brawl). If it hits, the attack deals no damage, but the seed of perversion is planted in the target’s mind. On the Lolita’s next action, as a reflexive action that doesn’t count as her action for the turn, the Lolita makes a Manipulation + Presence roll resisted by the target’s Charisma + Presence, adding the extra successes on the previous attack roll as bonus dice. If the Lolita succeeds, the victim is overwhelmed by deliciously painful torture inflicted by the Lolita, which draws him to blissful unconsciousness. If left undisturbed, the victim will remain unconscious after a number of hours equal to the extra successes on the Manipulation + Presence roll.
This Charm can only be placed in a Combo with Charms that add dice to Presence rolls. This Charm has no effect on Alien Princesses (who could probably come up with more twisted dreams to instill on their victims) and creatures that do not dream, like mindless undead.
Relentless Humiliation Assault
- Cost: 10 motes, 2 Willpower
- Duration: One scene
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Brawl: 5
- Minimum Moe: 3
- Prerequisite Charms: Moe Leech, I’m Your Queen, Intruder of Masochistic Dreams
The Lolita shapes her Moe into nasty leather whips, the better to humiliate her victims (who might at some point start enjoying it……). The character creates a number of whips equal to her Moe, and each is tipped with a razor-sharp claw (ouchie……). For the rest of the scene, the character gains a number of extra actions each turn equal to the number of whips grown. These actions can only be used to attack or parry. If a character uses any whips to attack, she cannot split her dice pool that turn, and vice versa. The whips have a length in yards and a Speed, Accuracy and Defense rating equal to their creator’s Moe and inflict a base lethal damage of the Lolita’s Strength + Moe. They are wielded using the Brawl ability. If the Lolita already held a whip in one of her hands when this Charm was activated, the whip adds the Loli’s Moe to its Speed, Accuracy, Damage and Defense ratings. A character using Relentless Humiliation Assault cannot use Extra Action-type Charms or take advantage of extra actions granted by other magic while this Charm remains active.
Reality Revision: Mistress of Unavoidable Demises
- Cost: 15 motes, 1 Willpower
- Duration: Up to a maximum of (Moe) weeks
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Brawl: 5
- Minimum Moe: 5
- Prerequisite Charms: Relentless Humiliation Assault
Gothic Lolitas adore being in control; and few forms of control they find more enjoyable than holding the fate of a person in their hands. This Charm allows them to do that.
The Lolita makes an ordinary Brawl attack, adding her Moe in automatic successes to the attack roll. In addition, the attack ignores armor soak. However, damage is not rolled. The Lolita instead implants an invisible thread of Moe that ties the target’s heart to her will. At any point during the next (Moe) weeks, the Lolita wills it, and the damage roll is made normally.
The Moe spent to invoke this Charm remains committed until the Gothic Lolita chooses to apply damage. If she doesn’t do it after a number of weeks equal to her permanent Moe have passed, the Moe thread degrades and disintegrates, and the Charm ends with no further effect. The thread can be seen with Charms that reveal Moe flows, but it can only be destroyed with magic that negates such flows, such as Sorcery or Necromancy counterspells.
Comments
You make good charms, Wings. Lots of nifty stuff. I have a few quibbles, though: Resistance is Futile Technique...this just does half damage the first round of the clinch, right? Then normal in following rounds, since it's just a one-turn instant? On Moe Leech, by 'living being', do you mean 'living creatures native to Creation', ie--not ghosts, not demons, not spirits, etc? On Intruder of Masochistic Dreams, it says 'plus one mote per die'. One mote per die of what? And it can't be comboed with other brawl charms? Also, I think something that can take someone out in one shot like this should probably be Moe 3. Shouldn't Relentless Humiliation Assault be an Extra Action charm itself? Over all, though, good stuff, nicely atmospheric. -- JohnBiles
- Umm, whoever wrote those comments, thanks a lot. Gave me the chance to correct a few typos in the process. Yes, Resistance is Futile Technique only deals half damage the round of the actual clinch. However, since it immediately allows a new clinch roll, you may actually end up dealing more damage in that round. That's pretty much the whole point of the Charm, aside of the "can sprint and clinch" trick. "Living beings" in Moe Leech means precisely that, living beings. That is, anything not undead or immaterial. Hence demons and materialized spirits can be affected. And the extra mote per die is something I had ommitted. Basically it's a dice-adder to compensate the fact that it can't be comboed. Thanks for noticing. As for Moe 3...I'm still not sure, after all, it can't be Combo-ed, so I'll leave it at 2 for a while. Time will prove me right or wrong. And, no, Relentless Humiliation Assault does a lot more than just granting Extra Actions, and it's a scene-long Charm, so I think it's more of a Simple (Speech) Charm. It's sort of like Charcoal March of Spiders Form, which isn't an Extra Action Charm, either. -- Wings
- That was me, above. It was late, I was tired. ^^;; Ahh, true, I couldn't even remember any scene-long extra action charms. Alrightie. -- JohnBiles
Oooooh, nasty, nasty new charm. QUIVERING PALM time. Cool. -- JohnBiles
