Lunar Misdirection and Trickery Charms by CrownedSun
Misdirection and Trickery I
Distracting Call Technique
Cost: 1 mote Duration: One turn Type: Reflexive Minimum Manipulation: 2 Minimum Essence: 1 Prerequisite Charms: None
This charm allows the Lunar to make small adjustments to the way that he produces sounds, allowing him to more easily speak without seeming to do so and cast his voice so that it appears to come from somewhere else. With this charm the Lunar can talk, yell, make animal calls and otherwise communicate without moving his lips or seeming to talk at all. In addition, he can casually throw his voice so that it appears to come from any area within 10 yards of his location.
Voice Mimicry Technique
Cost: 2 motes Duration: Indefinate Type: Simple Minimum Manipulation: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Distracting Call Technique
The Lunar's control over his vocal apparatus is now complete, and much like certain jungle birds from the Southeast, and he can flawlessly duplicate nearly any sound that he hears. Most often used on voices (even those whom he's not consumed the hearts blood of), it also works on any other sound that the Lunar has ever heard. Many Changing Moons can duplicate everything from the sound of a knife being drawn, to the alien war chants of Fair Folk Cataphractoi Hunting Parties.
There are a few limits to this charm. First, it doesn't allow you to speak other languages -- though you can mimic the words or accent flawlessly, either to repeat what has been said or say something in your language with the same voice and accent. Second, it cannot imitate more than once source of sound at a time – you can mimic the bellow of a Tyrant Lizard, but not 12 individuals having a heated argument.
Trickster's Distracting Mien
Cost: 2 motes/success Duration: Instant Type: Supplemental Minimum Manipulation: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Distracting Call Technique
A Lunar with this charm is a master of sleight of hand, able to keep a mark's attention away from what he's really up to. A City Lunar might use this charm to impress some young children, rob a merchant's stall, or pick a wealthy nobles pocket while a Silver Pack Lunar is more likely to develop unique and untraditional uses of this charm. The Lunar attempting a Larceny roll that relies on doing something unseen and unnoticed, even in plain sight, can convert a number of dice equal to his Manipulation score to automatic successes. The dice converted into automatic successes are not rolled as part of his dice pool, but the remaining dice are rolled normally. Each die converted costs 2 motes of Essence.
Misdirection and Trickery II
Notes
Damn straight! Why the Lunar book did not have a Trickery and Misdirection tree, I do not know. They have an entire Caste devoted to that kind of behavior! Further fleshing out of this tree would really help Changing Moons create a more distinct identity for themselves. On the shape-shifting vs. animal traits debate, I'm leaning towards the shape-shifting side, if just because animal forms seem so _limited_ for a race of shapechangers. What are they going to do, turn into bigger, deadlier animals at Essence 5? There's got to be more to it than that! hplovescats
Thanks; I'm glad you like the charms/tree-idea so far. I'll be doing more work on 'em, so feel free to keep checking:D Just got a lot of stuff to do, and I'm trying to keep my typing down. Hurt my hand recently. -- CrownedSun
