Advanced Stuff

The following does not add to the rules much, merely attempting to provide guidelines for various game situations.

Cities and Forces

For most cities where the inhabitants have not been specifically bred or trained, it is best to split the city into two separate Characters:

  • The first represents the commonfolk of the city itself, based on its full population. Assign 5 points to the 'Base' mundane character and work from there.
  • The second is the for the standing Watch of the city. These troops are far more competant, though only have 2% (one fiftieth) of the main population. The exact strength of these will vary from city to city, though they will generally be anywhere from 20 point to 50 point characters.

This represents a 100% devotion to a conflict effort. Either a battle, or a resistance to infiltration carried out by the entire city, etc. If the city has another immediate concern, it can't devote the entirety of its resources. This needs to be judged a bit by how many people the city can 'spare without losing effectiveness'.

Third Circle Spells

In most cases, first and second circle spells are assumed, to a point. While they should be roleplayed as such, their effects are a part of channelling Essence into results. Creating, training, or recruiting powerful servants, for example, is a matter of merely rolling and spending the time on it.

Third Circle spells often change the 'battlefield' in some manner, however. Thus, it is important to keep in mind what spells of such magnitude a Character knows, and for the Storyteller to consider the effects appropriately.
