Lady Vervain

Vervain is strange, and cryptic, and hard to pin down. Vervain is tall, and thin, and colourless in the way of an albino. Vervain has colour to her skin only where the mark of the twilight caste is branded permanently into her forehead, a dangerous quirk of her exaltation. Vervain is ever-changing, excitable, serious, focused, knowlegeable, troubled, happy, and many other contradictions, rolled up into one white-skinned Solar.

I like Vervain. A lot. She's acheived more than all my other RP characters put together, too.

She's a sorcerer. The colour of her skin was just one more thing sacrificed on the path of initiation; and she has finally acheived access to the highest circle of magic, which she has chased after for many of her years as a Solar. She has been to Yu-Shan, and into the farthest reaches of the West, and she has been deep into the tunnels under Gethamane, the city she used to think of as home; she has seen glimpses of Malfeas, even, and only narrowly avoided greater contact with it. She has been to the abandoned city of Denandsor, and has painstakingly taught herself the basics of the art of crafting artifacts. She has fought an ancient solar, met dragon kings, and escaped fair folk. She knows a lot about demons, but has never summoned one to date.

Detailing her backstory is not proving easy, however. She's quite persistantly elusive, even to me, even after a year. I know a lot about her. That she was born in Gethamane, to parents of some importance and learning; that she travelled creation widely with them as a child; but not much more of what she did. I know plenty of what she feels about things, but her life just wasn't that eventful in the early years, I suppose. She lived fairly quietly, in a scholarly sort of way, with the most exciting aspect of her life being her study of thaumaturgy, in a rather dry way, with rather dry people. It would seem she's been making up for it ever since.

Vervain is, well, excitable. Information interests her, and she does her best to gather as much of it as possible in any given time, which is not always the most efficient way of working, nor does it make her a very nice person to share a library with, as she tends to scuttle around such places muttering to herself as she looks for whatever it is she needs to know this time. She doesn't usually structure what she's doing very well, acting haphazardly, doing bits and pieces and then having to go back and fill in what she missed. If forced, she's capable of being methodical, but she generally needs to be reminded that it would be a good idea. She is focused. I swear, she is. While she may approach each task with little method, she will not give up until the task is done. She spent 5 years doing very little other than trying to decipher a text, though I fear doing so may have dented her sanity a little, considering how insane the person who wrote it was.
