The rooster is an extremely aggressive and territorial animal, it takes on all challengers and doesn’t know to back down even when outmatched. It is also a vain self promoter constantly crowing to proclaim its territory to creation. The martial artists who practice the Celestial Rooster Style take both these traits and formed them into an aggressive flashy martial art form. This martial art is popular with street fighters and gladiatorial fighters though few can attain the discipline necessary to learn it.

Weapons and Armor: Practitioners of the Celestial Rooster Form depend heavily on kicks for their attacks and therefore can use iron boots and their artifact counterparts as form weapons, also a type of martial arts weapon developed mainly for practitioners of this form called the spur and its artifact counterparts can be used as a form weapon. This Form can be used while wearing light armor only.

Additional Skills: While most practitioners of Celestial Rooster Style tend to have a few points in athletics to support many of their flashy acrobatic moves it is not required.

Spurs

This martial arts weapon is basically a boot with several blades and spikes mounted strategically along the toes and heels. This is a rare specialty weapon used primarily by martial artists who depend on a more deadly kicking ability than average, it is particularly popular amongst practitioners of the Celestial Rooster Style who designed the weapon to emulate the talons of the animal who’s fighting style they emulate.

For the rooster quick and deadly attacks means the difference between life and death. This charm supplements an unarmed martial arts kick allowing it to inflict lethal damage instead of bashing damage. If the kick can already do lethal damage then add 2 dice to the total raw damage of the kick.

Fearless Gamecock Stance

Cost: 2m
Mins: Martial Arts 1, Essence 1,
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: None

Prerequisite Charms: None

Retreat is an option that never occurs to the rooster. Neither does it occur to the martial artists who mimic his moves. When this charm is activated a single valor roll may be re-rolled taking the second result for good or ill.

Unfettered by Pain Discipline

Cost: 2m
Mins: Martial Arts 2, Essence 1,
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo Ok
Duration: instant
Prerequisite Charms: None

The rooster keeps fighting until victory or death. Like the rooster, practitioners of the Celestial Rooster Style fight through pain and injury. When this charm is activated the martial artist may ignore all wound penalties for a single action.

King of the Roost Challenge

Cost: 4m
Mins: Martial Arts 3, Essence 2,
Type: Simple
Keywords: Obvious, Compulsion
Duration: One Scene
Prerequisite Charms: Fearless Gamecock Stance, Unfettered by Pain Discipline, Iron Talon Attack

The rooster crows to let creation know what is his, he frightens would be intruders and dares his enemies to infringe on his domain. When this charm is activated the martial artists anima flares briefly and he issues a challenge to a single opponent. The opponent then makes a valor check that he must either pass in order to avoid fleeing or fail in order to avoid instantly joining battle. These are two separate effects; the martial artist chooses one or the other at the time of the challenge. These are considered unnatural mental influence and last the rest of the scene or until the target spends 1 willpower to resist the effect. The difficulty of the valor check is one if the target has a greater valor than the martial artist, 2 otherwise.

Rooster Form

Cost: 5m
Mins: Martial Arts 4, Essence 2,
Type: Simple
Keywords: Form Type, Obvious
Duration: One Scene
Prerequisite Charms: King of the Roost Challenge

The rooster is both relentless in combat and vain. When he is not defending his roost he is seeking their attention and warning creation loudly against the perils of intruding on his territory. Those who emulate the rooster similarly do not hide their power; rather they become more powerful by attracting attention. When activating this charm the martial artists caste mark flares to life as if they had spent 4 or more motes of peripheral essence, for the duration of the scene no power can suppress their anima lower than this point. For this and every level of anima flare above this level (as outlined in Exalted pg 114) the martial artist gains abilities as follows:

Caste Mark Glowing: May ignore 1 point of wound penalty and 1 point of multiple action penalty. May inflict lethal damage with martial arts kicks if not able to otherwise.
Glowing Aura: May ignore 2 points of wound penalties and 1 point of multiple action penalty. May inflict lethal damage with martial arts kicks if not able to otherwise. Also may reflexively spend 1 mote of essence to adjust someone else's valor by 1 for a single roll.
Fiery Aura: May ignore 3 points of wound penalties and 2 points of multiple action penalty. May inflict lethal damage with martial arts kicks if not able to otherwise. Also may reflexively spend 1 mote of essence to adjust someone else's valor by 1 for a single roll.
Iconic: May ignore 4 points of wound penalties and 2 points of multiple action penalty. May inflict lethal damage with martial arts kicks if not able to otherwise. Also may reflexively spend 1 mote of essence to adjust someone else's valor by 2 for a single roll.

Since iconic animas flare then go away the martial artist retains the bonuses from an iconic anima until their DV refreshes then must spend essence to flair it again to gain the bonuses for another turn. All valor adjustments are to a minimum of 1 and maximum of 5.

Frenzied Assault Method

Cost: 5m
Mins: Martial Arts 4, Essence 3,
Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo OK
Duration: One Action
Prerequisite Charms: Rooster Form

When the rooster attacks he offers no quarter and expects none, mimicking his moves the martial artist becomes relentless giving their opponent no opportunity to react. When supplementing a flurry with this charm onslaught penalties inflicted by the martial artist are doubled. And penalties incurred to the martial artists DV’s from the actions of the flurry are halved (to a minimum of 1).

Swift Red Rage Attack

Cost: 2+m
Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 3,
Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo OK
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Rooster Form

Victory comes to the rooster through swift action and fast attacks. For every 2 motes spent on this charm the martial artist may reduce the speed of an unarmed martial arts attack by 1 (to a minimum of 3) or add 1 success to a join battle roll (to a maximum of their permanent essence score) or any combination of the two.

Relentless Pecking Barrage

Cost: 6m
Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 3,
Type: Extra Action
Keywords: Obvious, Extra Action
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Frenzied Assault Method

The roster does not quit attacking until either he or his enemies are dead. This charm launches the martial artist into a magical flurry with a number of actions equal to his valor ignoring rates for any weapons. These actions do not suffer from extra action penalties and have a DV penalty equal only to the highest one of the actions taken.

Harbinger of the Dawn

Cost: 6m +1wp
Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 4,
Type: Simple
Keywords: Obvious, Holy, Compulsion
Duration: One Scene
Prerequisite Charms: Relentless Pecking Barrage, Swift Red Rage Attack

It is said that the rooster’s call brings the dawn, and the call of those who follow the path of the rooster is no different. The martial artist issues a war cry and their anima flares with the light of the morning sun (even if they aren’t a solar). For the rest of the scene the martial artist is the bane of darkness, creatures of darkness with a permanent essence of less than the martial artists will attempt to flee and the martial artist deals all creatures of darkness aggravated damage. This is an unnatural mental influence that the creatures of darkness must spend 1 point of temporary willpower to resist.
