*nod* Ah. I see.

Your issues make a lot more sense. And for you, here is my solution:

Kiss of Stilled Breath

Cost: None
Duration: Permanent
Type: Special
Minimum Lore: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Breath-Draining Prana

While lesser deathknights must often resort to a diet of flesh and blood to replenish their Essence in Creation, Abyssal Exalted with this Charm may feast directly on the Essence of a living being within two yards. Such feeding requires the concentration of a simple action, though this may be performed in lieu of inflicting damage while controlling a clinch. For each turn of attempted breath feasting, roll the deathknight's Essence rating minus the permanent Essence of the victim (minimum of one die). Each success inflicts one level of unsoakable lethal damage to the victim and restores one mote to the Abyssal's pool. Beings capable of directly perceiving Essence witness a glowing tendril of light streaming from the victim's mouth to enter the Abyssal's own, but the attack is otherwise invisible. Victims suffering fewer levels of damage than their Stamina as a result of all activations of this Charm, Breath-Draining Prana or similar magic do not automatically realize their peril, but normally attribute their sudden weakness to fatigue, hunger or other mundane causes. Abyssals may also use the feeding afforded by this Charm to attack the Essence reserves of magical beings. Resolve such attacks exactly as described above, save that each success on the breath feasting roll drains one mote from the victim's pool and adds it to the deathknight's own. Such motes are always drawn from Peripheral before Personal, if applicable. The attack inflicts no damage. Stolen Essence glows visibly to all onlookers as it gushes from the victim's mouth, leaving no doubt as to the spiritual violation taking place before their eyes.
