SynodicLarceny

Blurring of Fate's Eyes

Cost: 1 mote per die
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Larceny: 2
Minimum Essence: 1
Prerequisite Charms: None

The Essence of the Underworld interferes with Fate, making it murky and unreadable. By gathering it around himself a Synodic Exalted can make his task easier since the Fate that might doom it to failure is blurred and weakened. Anyone who might notice his actions fails to do so. Every mote spend on this Charm adds 1 die to a Larceny roll. A character can spend no more motes on this Charm then he has dots of Essence.

Stealing Fate's Threads

Cost: 1 mote per target number
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Larceny: 2
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Blurring of Fate's Eyes

Grabbing on to some of the Threads of fate currently preventing one from dastardly deeds and tying them into a hard-to-untie knot is fun. A Synodic Exalted knows this and enjoys doing so whenever it helps his cause. Each mote spent on this Charm lowers the target number of a single Larceny roll by 1, to a minimum of 4.

Memory Expropriation Procedure (originally from Stanoje)

Cost: 6 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One turn
Type: Simple
Minimum Larceny: 3
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Stealing Fate's Thunder

By taking the memory of acquiring and owning an item from his target, the Synodic greatly reduces the chance that a theft is investigated. He selects an item within his view that is currently in the possession of another person and deftly cuts a piece of its thread from the tapestry. The owner of the item loses all memories of acquiring and owning the item while the Synodic gains them. They are subtly colored by differing life experiences; there is no chance of the Synodic ever mistaking these new memories for his own.
For mundane possessions, roll Manipulation + Larceny against a difficulty of half the target's Permanent Essence (rounded up). Artifacts, Hearthstones and other magical items may not be stolen with this Charm if the target is attuned to them. If they are not, the difficulty is the item's Artifact Rating plus the target's Permanent Essence.

Beneficiary-Replacement Flourish

Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Larceny: 3
Minimum Bureaucracy: 2
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Memory Expropriation Procedure

Combining his knowledge of Underworld Essence and his skill at altering the Fate of both worlds, a Synodic can rearrange matters so that he becomes the beneficiary of a deal or contract. For example, he could re-word a dying merchant's will so that the estate becomes his instead of going to the merchant's only son. Or he could make it so that instead of protecting a famous healer from the Assassins, he himself is protected instead. The difficulty of such reworking is directly affected by how complex and well-documented the deal is. Difficulty 1 represents a simple pact between two people whereas Difficulty 5 may represent a famous treaty between two powerful kingdoms. Ancient magical pacts between potent beings like Yozis or Deathlords may have difficulties higher of 10 or higher! The roll to modify a deal's terms is Wits + Larceny.
